I'll be interested to watch the video feed later. The splits looked sloppy (out too fast, a bit up and down). Curious how much of that was planned vs passing traffic, etc. I think he could push 12:40 with current fitness on more even splits
that was epic!!! except for all the runners who didn't move out of the way.....
But can’t complain about a WR and a time that is faster than his outdoor PR. Would love to see him in of those diamond league races that go sub 12:40 but idk that’s gonna happen with Grand Slam.
The fact they didn’t move over for him when it was a world record attempt is so lame. Honestly super impressed with Fisher being able to move past a group so efficiently when they were spread into lane 2. He’s the real deal.
For the those of us that couldn't watch, did he lose any time passing lapped runners?
Probably not anything too significant, but they really gave him zero deference which to me personally is just a bit classless
To be fair they didn't know he was coming.
But the officials at BU need to have a better system for this. They could alert lapped runners well in advance and move them out to lane 2 when the leader is 50m back.
Of course, the worst of all worlds is that the lapped runners move out too late and tangle with the leader, so they have to be told to move out early.
And for this race in particular they didn't need to as many 13:20 guys.
do they have screens at all angles so you know he's coming? can be hard to tell someone is coming with the very short straightaways. a lot of these guys are having the race of their lives, and probably aren't exactly thinking straight.

Yeah I’m probably being a bit over critical. Just frustrated to see this kinda thing factor into attempts at fast times again and again

It stinks, but it's also the nature of indoor track. your frustration is warranted.
