From immigrants, there is an estimated $2.2 trillion per year added to U.S. GDP, 96% of which is not sent out of the country. From illegal immigrants, estimated at 11 million, down from over 12 million in 2007, there is a very large positive net economic impact. Texas did a study years back that indicated that illegal immigrants paid in about $400 million more in state revenue than they were given, and overall deporting the 1.4 million of them at the time in 2006 would have cost the state $17.7 billion in economic activity.
