Sometimes you have to adapt.
My wife of 30+ years can't stand being around a work environment for extended periods of time. So she got an RN degree (while I worked to pay for it), had a 25 year career working 24 hours per week and makes just under 100k per year currently. When she's not working, she's a fantastic home manager and I've benefitted greatly from her efforts. She gardens, cooks, took care of the non-sports kids activities, and generally does stuff that makes her happy. We are on the cusp of retirement at age 59 and never would have made it this far as a couple if I had insisted that she work 40-50 hours a week outside the home like I always have. She would have been miserable and I'd have been frustrated. The extra money would have been nice, but not at the expense of a miserable marriage.
