Where's your evidence that those 200s were all-out? Or that it was even a "fast speed workout."? That looks like a boilerplate run-of-the-mill workout to me.
Have you ever run a half marathon? Don't be shy, answer the effing question?
Wow please don’t swear at me. This makes me feel very uncomfortable not to mention unsafe
The fact you said this after being called out for being anonymous literally made me laugh lol
A few days ago Conner and Clayton did a fast speed workout of 12 x 400 then 10 x 200. Conner went as fast as 26 flat in his 200s
Yesterday Clayton ran 4 x 2 miles whereas Conner hasn’t updated his Strava in two days
Obviously Conner is hurt from racing his workouts and this just goes to show how much better training like klecker’s is which prioritizes aerobic development and not racing workouts
Do we even know if Mantz is injured? I mean, you said obviously… pretty irresponsible to post that unless you know it’s a fact.
Hard to be critical of Mantz as he’s been our top marathoner for awhile now and at least shares snippets of his training w the public. I will say though that if I have one critique of the guy, it’s that I don’t think he gives his body enough time to recover after major marathon efforts, and it seems like he does go to the well in workouts. You’ll notice Young is rarely very far behind Mantz in marathons (and sometimes ahead, despite inferior track credentials) but he stays within himself in training.
Nobody should be surprised that four major marathon races in 13 months might be taking their toll. I don’t really understand running NYC, other than the payday. But, I was never anywhere near a 2:07 marathon, so who am I to say?
These are the 200s being referred to, quoted from Mantz's Strava: "10x200 with about 1:45 rest at: 28.8, 27.8, 28.3, 28.3, 27.9, 28.0, 26.9, 27.3, 26.5 26.2."
I find it amusing that we have numerous threads with "why can American marathoners only run 2:08?!" alongside threads where four 200s under 27.5 is too tough for a professional athlete.
Also, the only "evidence" for his injury is that he hasn't updated Strava in 72 hours.
These are the 200s being referred to, quoted from Mantz's Strava: "10x200 with about 1:45 rest at: 28.8, 27.8, 28.3, 28.3, 27.9, 28.0, 26.9, 27.3, 26.5 26.2."
As I previously stated, the clown who started this thread went from "as fast as 26s" to "26 flat 200s" and finally "all out 200s." "about 1:45 rest"? That's nearly a lifetime.
