Wejo- Why don't you read through the new orleans thread and decide if you're happy with what you've built and cultivated here? Hopefully this will help you understand what needs to be addressed in 2025
If a post has comic value, just leave it up! For crying out loud.
Some posts are just funny, they just make me laugh. For the love of Santa — let people be funny.
I would make it part of the moderation guidelines: “Even if a post is otherwise out of line, or otherwise too hot-headed, don’t delete away humor.”
I’m not saying to let people be funny because high idealistic morals, I’m saying to let people be funny because the business model is eyeballs, advertising dollars, supporters club memberships.
In the end, we are Americans — if we don’t have our sense of humor to bond over, what DO we have?
You’re positioned with the opportunity to make some good money off this site and also improve the value of the experience at the same time. Better merch . Connections in the industry. You just have to do a few things differently. Hire someone if you need to . Shouldn’t be that hard .
Why are the mods deleting so many comments? I know at least one didn't violate any guidelines.
Plus, wejo asked for feedback, why not let him respond?
More odd mod behavior. Not too long ago the mods even deleted a thread that wejo started. He had to lay down the law, telling them to never delete a thread he starts....classic.
- more filter functionality. If I want to see threads only in the categories pop culture, LRC Community, Professional Distance News, and D1 College Running I should be able to do that. Basically any combination and all permutations of categories and subcategories one selects should be available as filters when viewing the board.
- +/- totals for each poster, maybe just their total rep. Of course a lot of ratioed posters would make new accounts for clean slates though. Maybe the mods use this data for something already - but users seeing these scores will probably cut down on low effort threads, troll posts, etc.
