In the UK under Tony Blair's government, they introduced 'indeterminate sentencing'. So you could be sentenced to prison for something relatively trivial, and if the parole board decided you might reoffend, then you might never come out.
I think it was scrapped when the Conservatives came in, or it was challenged in the European Court of Human Rights, but those already sentenced weren't affected by the ruling - it just meant that the courts could no longer impose an indeterminate sentence on new cases.
Now that Labour are back in power, and especially with Two Tier Kier in charge, they might bring indeterminate sentencing back so they can jail 'far-right' grannies forever for posting a bad comment on Facebook.
The long read: Indeterminate sentences are devastating to mental health, but prisoners with mental illness are less likely to be released. The result is a vicious cycle whereby the most vulnerable inmates often have the least...
1) I would want life with no chance of parole. I wouldn't want to be kicked out on the mean streets at age 93.
2) I would not want to hurt anyone to get in.
3) I would have to commit a crime where I was respected by the other inmates or at least no targeted. I would like to be left alone.
4) On the topic of being left alone, solitary confinement would be ideal.
What crime would I have to commit to make this happen?
Here is the deal.
1.) Chances of you making it into your 90s slim to none. Regardless you will be expected to fight for your race in riots and they do happen. As a lifer your not going to Disneyland your going to typically a minimum level 4 which is violent.
2.) You don't want to hurt anyone however, the inmates will hurt you your not going too get along with everyone I mean who do you think is locked up? Answer violent criminals, psychopaths, killers, dangerous people.
3.) Respect is not earned by crime that got you locked up it is earned by how you are able to defend yourself behind bars. If you can't fight you will be a target.
4.) Solitary Florescent lights are typically on 24 hours a day, also you don't get TV or even get to leave your cell you are locked down 23 and 1 meaning you are allowed out 1 hour every 3rd day. Solitary is miserable and can crack even the hardest men. I spent 2 weeks in that hell and you start going insane. This is why inmates self mutilate eat there own excrement, and do things like cutting off there private parts.
Also the food is not all you can eat most inmates get commissary which if you don't want to fight will be taken from you by other inmates, and inmates in Solitary are not authorized commissary.
PC (protective custody) is not just given to you because you don't want to politic with other inmates the institution has to agree that your life is in grave danger meaning you have to snitch to get it and inmates in PC will even turn on you for being labeled a snitch.
Definition of rehabilitated this guy has done time!!!!
Frame yourself for some terrible crime that someone else committed. You'll have to live with everyone thinking you're a POS but maybe that's not so bad.
Why not become a monk or join the peace corps or something like that? Do you really want to relinquish all control and choice in your life? If you have never been arrested or sent to jail, maybe commit a small crime and see if the lifestyle suits you.
You'd have to do two things, A) become heavyweight boxing champion by beating the previous champ to death in the ring and B) threatening a terrorist act against some innocent country with no prison constituency. A), which is perfectly legal, and the means to A) would get you the respect to keep the others from bugging you, while B) would get you the life sentence in some black ops prison in solitary confinement without hurting anyone to get there.
Save all your money for a year and buy a ton of canned food (basically what you'd eat in prison). Park an R.V. in the middle of nowhere. Stay there for the rest of your life.
With this plan, you have an easy out if you change your mind (I know. VERY unlikely) and you still get all the things you're hoping for.

Not in Missouri. A little known Missouri law called "incarceration reimbursement" allows the state to confiscate money from prisoners to pay for the costs of their incarceration, reports the Kansas City Star. It's sometimes referred to as “pay-to-stay,” by activists against the practice.
