Granted, only one male athlete has won the 1500m, 5000m, and 10,000m at the Olympics. It's not a shoe-in for Jakob, but to suggest he has no possibility is ridiculous.
Jakob's focus the 2025 seasons should (obviously) be the WC in Tokyo and some fast times in the 1500m, mile AND 5000m (in the 2000m, 3000m and 2 mile he's already done very well, and then some). For the indoor season he should aim for the mile or 3000m world record.
As sidequests he should aim for Farah's European record in the 10000m (26:46.57), as well as breaking 1:46.00 and 1:45.50 in the 800m. I'd like to see him do 800m or 10000m (or both) in the Norwegian championships.
World XC Championships in 2026 would be nice too.
I wouldn't mind a fast 3000m steeplechase time either.
Gressier's and Lobalu's 13:12 in the 5k road, and Daguinos' 27:04 in the 10k road should also be within reach.
He should go for a 1000m race too. 2:14 or 2:13.xx should be doable
(I think that was all, lol)
(He obviously has gone FAST in 1500m, mile and 5000m already, but I think it's WR time in those the next three seasons)

Shoe-in?
nice!
I'm sure you've never been mistaken about anything in your life.
The idea that Jakob will somehow not be elite and destroy everyone at 10k is laughable. Even if he can't break the WR he'll smoke everyone at the major championships. For the umpteenth time, Jakob ran that sub par half marathon two days after winning the DL 1500 final. He clearly wasn't recovered for or even training for anything over 5k. He said he had never even run more than 20k for a single long run before.
If he was to even do one serious training cycle for 10k and the half, he would be 26:25 and 58 lows at the slowest.
You didn’t watch the race have you? This was a very tactical race, mid race you would even think Thierry was out of it, Jacob took off in the last mile, Crippa and Thierry were the ones who tried to barely hang on Jacob’s finish kick.
Now this is not how cross country is ran in Africa trust me! And it’s a 7ishKm race, not the same with a fast cross country 10km.
This week end I was more impressed but Jimmy Gressier’ second place to Lobalu on a very hard course!
Extremely unlikely but at the same time he's the likeliest of the current crop of superstars to do so. There's always another guy coming up so who knows.
Given his height/weight and the fact that 3k/2miles seems to be his sweetspot, i'd suggest a steeple gold would be better odds than the marathon.

Extremely correct! He doesn't need marathon gold, just finished olympic marathon in Brisbane '32 or '36. After 4 Olympic gold in different events, Jakob can just enjoy participating in Olympic marathon.
