I mentioned on another thread leaving NAZ Elite was probably the best thing she ever did. she and Jack weren't getting along and after she won the US Steeplechase title they wanted her to do longer distances while she was more passionate about the 800 and 1500.
i remember seeing her run the 5K at Millrose last year and she finished dead last and looked pretty angry afterwards. that maye have been her breaking point with them.
took guts to leave and go out on her own. looks like it's paying off.

Yeah, yeah, talk about the "payoff" when she wins a real title again, like she did with NAZ Elite.

This is a very fair point. How often on this board have we heard “So-and-so runner needs to run the steeple rather than the 1500m since the steeple appears to be less competitive.”
Maybe NAZ Elite felt she would be more competitive in the steeple.

No doubt. And let’s be honest here, NAZ is a JV team
Looks like Gear is entered in the steeple at Sound, clearly not done with the event yet. No Coburn/Frierichs but she’ll race Wayment and Markezich.
Looking back, she hasn’t been beaten since she left NAZ. Opened with two little Arkansas races, got DQ’d at indoors but still finished first. Then the more recent Drake double. 2-3s PBs’s every time. Something is working for her.
Will be interesting to see how all that mid d racing translates back up to the steeple and what she’ll do at USA’s. Have we ever seen a 1500/steeple double? Does that even work in the schedule?
