The starting age for Ingebrigtsen’s training keeps getting younger and younger, but there’s no evidence that the early start made any difference. Kessler started running seriously his senior year, Ryun his sophomore year and Hocker ran 45 mpw in HS. How much faster would those guys have been, had they started training like a pro at age 6? My opinion is that Ingebrigtsen was lucky he didn’t suffer career altering injuries at a young age.
Ryun ran a 58 second 440 in 8th grade, but other 8th grade boys in Wichita were running 53 seconds.
