I think schools that go all in distance and Midmajors who aren’t worried about a football program should be first stop for even the very best Americans.

NOT TRUE, When I was at Oklahoma State our Athletic Director at the Time Myron Roderick was in The Wrestling Room Several Times every Week, It was like he was An Extra Coach, He knew everyone on the Team, Walk ons, Transfers etc. If A Wrestler asked him to Watch a Move (Like shooting The Low Single) He would look for ways to improve what the Athlete was doing, He would even stay after practice for 20-30 Minutes analyzing The Technique, He Really put his Heart into it, (He was not there all the Time as His AD Job required him to do other thing) He was A Great Man and he Genuinely cared about Wrestling and that is a Non Revenue Sport most Years even at Oklahoma State, He was not focused only on Football and Basketball as proven by the Time and Effort he put into Wrestling.

That was over 40 years ago, things are very different now.

I don't think anyone predicted the NCAA would change the way it has recently, back when Title IX was created. You're complaining about cross country guys' rosters being cut?
Without Title IX, women's teams at a lot of schools would have never been created in the first place.

I agree that football is the problem here, but it's not the women getting the short end of the stick in these roster cutbacks. It's the men.

I'm glad we agree that football is the problem.

In totality, women at almost every university will have fewer roster spots (all sports combined) than their percent in the full-time undergraduate population should require. They will also have it worse for every other measurable as they always do.

Point the finger at football, not at a population that is already and will continue to be underserved.

Makes no sense

National roster limits xc 17 track 45.

Reducing xc 17 to 12, does not increase track from 45 to 50 for 5 more field guys.

In fact SEC is going with 10 xc and only 35 for track.

It doesn't work like that- they counted as separate teams. You can have up to 17 runners on the cross country roster. Dropping to 12 doesn't mean your 45-man roster limit for track doesn't suddenly jump up to 50. It means you have 5 less guys on your cross country roster. Its like saying if basketball cut 3 guys, baseball can add 3 more.

At this point, the distinction should be revenue generating sports and non-revenue generating sports, imo. Why should women's xc have twice as much money because the football generates revenue? Whatever though.
