Sorry, I didn't phrase that very well. I wasn't referring specifically to Valby. I liked the gutsy move and did indeed watch the race. I was happy to see her go for it!
I am just saying that it isn't the same thing as being truly in the mix internationally. I don't expect a 14:51 runner to be beating women who are gunning for the first sub-14. That is all I was getting at.
And yes, if she is running 14:51 without doping (and I don't think Valby or Tuohy are doping), then I still respect that more than a doped 13:59. The problem is that we are force fed the international freak show because that is what is "on camera" when we watch the races.
Every time you watched Lance Armstrong and Ivan Basso racing, you weren't watching a great, clean rider. It is the same with international track and field.
p.s. I am sorry I am so cynical right now. The 2:09 marathon was a shock.
