Why so much hype over a 2:11 man? Hes never going to wear US vest in a champs cos hes to slow, hes just you guys favorite wet dream on strava. Needs to calm down, have a beer and find some loose women
Yes but those total miles came very differently. Panning is starting to taper and CJ is hitting his highest mileage yet 2 weeks from a marathon. Context matters buddy!

First of all, he ran 2:10 at the trials. Flat course, but hot and humid. Second of all, in that race he was 10 seconds off bronze and closing hard. He has never made a US team, true. But to count him out with certainty after coming that close just seems silly
Just ran 18 miles at 4:55 in his week prior taper. I can only conclude that Chicago isn’t really his target race or he is ready to attempt something like 2:06 in Chicago.
The biggest thing holding back CJ from 2:06 is CJ himself. C'mon man, 18 at race pace 1 week out?? You might recover enough to feel good in a week, but you are not fully recovering in a week. You are definitely not "supercompensating" in a week.
I think CJ is an amazing athlete, but I get the sneaking suspicion that this pattern of behavior is sandbagging. I wonder if he is unconsciously stacking difficulties so that if he doesn't hit his sky high expectations, he has an excuse to fall back on, thereby preserving his self-image.
CJ, PLEASE get a coach. Do a block or two at altitude. Pick one target race. Get yourself a good pair of shoes. Recover enough. Then go out and attack that AR.
I am sick of the many athletes who are regularly "in AR shape".

While wearing Brooks! Alphaflys would have got him to the games.

Maybe that’s his strategy, train like a beast and get a contract from Nike in 2025 to take on the East Africans

Ok, boomer. No one under the age of 65 says 'loose women'. LOL go away.
