They're born to be marketers or tech sales bros or something. Most cyclists make ~$30K in a merciless sport that beats you to pulp. They're smart, charismatic, and Stanford-educated. If they're not going to go pro in running, they'd have no trouble getting a real job.
agreed, i don't actually recommend cycling to anyone anymore due to the inherent danger of training on public roads 20-30 hrs/wk
also, funny i stated the part in bold previously and the truth is they are ALREADY national champions as runners (high school team title right?) oops
still, they remind me of several former cyclists that were road world champs
Do the twins race in road or gravel cycling events?? ...I do think a lot of talented runners could crush it in cycling but never really give it a shot. It does take a lot of skill and daring beyond fitness to succeed but if you can race on a World Tour or Pro Tour team in Europe you will be making more than you would running. Journeyman domestique Pro tour riders make 100k in Europe. Different level of money churning through European cycling compared to running. (Not taking any endorsement dollars into account, Todej Pogacar has an annual salary that is equal to Jakob's entire net worth for comparison between the two sports $$$ potential) Even in the US right now, the Gravel scene via the Lifetime Grand Prix series is producing million dollar athletes (Keegan Swenson)
Doesn't matter though! They can do whatever they want if they stay the course at Stanford. The Young twins made a good choice going to Stanford. Same with Sprout and Hicks and Robinson and this new crop of Freshman. Degree and School quality trumps all other factors. Stanford degree opens many doors and provides the best opportunitie$
