So now we are being asked to believe that the Captain (Conor) and Camille are coming clean? Or that love and a few big whopper lies will keep us (them) together.
We received the following email from Conor Holt, the husband of Camille Herron, surrounding the Wikipedia edits controversy outlined by Canadian Running yesterday. Here is the email:
Hello from Greece- here for the Spartathlon 153 mile race scheduled for this Saturday. Yesterday I received a notification about a published article by Canadian Running Magazine. The author said he reached out for comment before it was published. I found an email sent Sept 20 in my spam account yesterday after the article was published! I never got a chance to say anything to the Canadian Running website before they published it. Plus we have been traveling the last few days with limited access!
For the Wikipedia part, temporun73 was the original account I created in 2016 and use to edit the page. I manage this so Camille can focus on her running and recovery.
Starting in 2023 and continuing to this day, cyber bullies by the name of Steven Walling, Liliana Uwu, C.Fred, Melcous, and some more were repeatedly editing out significant parts of Camille’s life/ biographical details.
I kept adding back in the details, and then they blocked my account in early February of this year. Nothing was out of line with what other athletes have on their pages. Wikipedia allows the creation of another account, so I created a new account Rundbowie. I was going off what other athletes had on their pages using the username Rundbowie and copying/pasting this info.
Camille had nothing to do with this. I am 100% responsible and apologize for any athletes affected by this and the wrong I did.
I was only trying to protect Camille from the constant bullying, harassment and accusations she has endured in her running career, which has severely impacted her mental health. So much to the point that she has sought professional mental health help.
I also went ahead and deactivated all of Camille’s social platforms for the time being because of the vile comments she has received.
As the author who wrote the story, there are multiple holes in this.
1) I reached out multiple times. And followed up on Camille’s X where she frequently was posting pictures (from Greece) and replying to tweets… I asked her to reply to our email regarding the edits.
Ok. My understanding is that Camille and Conor are married and live together; why would Conor write a letter or statement and not bother to ask or write anything about what Camille thinks about the matter - especially as her coach and agent he is representing her.
No one really cares what Conor thinks. We want to know what Camille thinks, and honestly I don't think that the juvenile edits of her own page to make her look better are that bad.
What is vile is the negative edits of superior athletes Wikipedia pages out of some apparent twisted hope that by doing so she would make herself look better.
Conor doesn't even address this issue in his non apology letter.
These words are highlighted in bold in the letter but they are transparently self serving: "Camille had nothing to do with this. I am 100% responsible and apologize for any athletes affected by this and the wrong I did."
Wtf. He doesn't even mention the wrong he did because all he talks about is the edits to Camille's page along with an apparently made up excuse that people were harassing her.
I find it impossible to believe that Camille was completely unaware of the edits, especially since the article about the edits was published. I like Camille but Conor has to understand that Camile has some responsibility for the actions that he takes in her name and on her behalf. Disappointing.

when he is talking about significant biographical details, he is literally talking about her being famous for eating tacos, crediting her steely toughness to her grandpa, and running with her hair down, if you check the edits.

You mention that the "two accounts have made more than 300 contributions to pages on Wikipedia," including edits to Des Linden's page. Looking at the , I don't see any contributions from the "Temporun73" or "Rundbowie" accounts, whereas I do see those accounts listed in the . Were the Des page edits made from a different account or IP address? I may be missing something.
The back and forth in these Wiki edits is hilarious, here's your link if you're curious.
Also, as others noted he wasn't just fending off the cyber bullies (read: burnishing her wiki to sound like a personal ad/website), he was actively degrading other ultra runners pages:
I had no idea people give a rats ass about ultra running in this site, who knew & why? Seriously has this site now become a high school message board & Ultra running site. Let's run...
Ok, well it’s always good to hear both sides and as is often the case the truth appears to be in the middle.
Probably some mean wiki edits but also lots of bullying towards Camille prior to this which is also wrong. Everyone can now move on since it has been cleared up.
Good luck in your next race Camille, I had not heard of you before today but I am now a new fan and I hope you show those bullies.

Which is it? It went to spam? Or you have been traveling & unable to do email? Multiple excuses stink.
Out of all the things to call them out for, that's a pretty crazy hill to die on. Both excuses can be true at the same time. Not defending them or anything--just don't see your point and believe they should be called out for their actual wrongdoings instead of this petty sh*t.
Editors with these kinds of edit numbers are basically full-time Wikipedia editors. If you look at their edit histories, they literally edit thousands of topics. People like this do not have the time to "bully" any particular person. They spend all their time correcting inaccuracies and updating pages are they need updating. It is basically a full-time job for them. A quick look at their edits of the Herron page do not indicate any type of cyber bullying. But have a look for yourself -- all of their edits are below.
...and he did this while Herron was none the wiser, yet was seeing all the bully edits. How stupid are these people. Really.
Came here to say this. How stupid are they? Honestly - never heard of IP tracing? Claiming full time Wikipedia editors are singling Camille Herron out and “bullying” her? I mean the delusion must run so deep for them to truly believe they are being bullied in this community. I also despise when people use mental health as a catch all for bad behavior. At this point it’s so over saturated in its use it’s the equivalent of saying you did something because of your zodiac sign. Give it a break. It gets grosser and grosser. Using mental health and autism as the scale goats. Blaming the ultra community for “bullying her”. Just such gross behavior that is so blatantly incorrect and inappropriate. Never in my life have I met an ultra runner who would consider bullying someone - and I say that as a gay man who has run alongside a lot of straight guys with different life viewpoints during my races and not ONCE have I ever been or even FELT bullied. That just isn’t a true statement and the fact that they would try to throw the community who is the hand that feeds them under the bus is gross. it sounds like she is going to race this weekend. I’ll be genuinely curious to see how this goes. I bet she just can’t stay away and has to race so she can bask in the freak states that she perceives as adulation for her many accomplishments.

Yes, 1000x this. I just googled Steven Walling and he has worked on Wikipedia since 2006 and was a full-time employee of the Wikipedia Foundation. The idea that he's some cyberbully of Camille Herron is patently absurd to the point that Conor is insulting our collective intelligence.
This "apology" is so pathetically absurd that imo this has now turned into one of those cases that the "coverup" is worse than the "crime." What a loser that Conor is for writing this delusional fiction.
I call total BS. Sorry, she has this man in a b-sack lock. How, not sure? But until SHE takes responsibility and stops blaming ghost bullies, she needs to be looked upon with skepticism.
