I too lived there for 6 years, and see it very differently. The wind is undeniable, but the cold is very tolerable, as it is sunny nearly every day. I often ate lunch on my porch during winter days. There are prairie trails easily reached within 5 minutes of campus (5 minutes running, it's not far), and the Happy Jack trails are less then 15 minutes away by car. I've run trails all over the country, and Happy Jack are some of the best. They are covered in snow mid-November through late April, but no impact on XC season. But ~45 minute drive down to Fort Collins, and you are running in 50 degree weather. Ultimately, it is a small, cowboy, college town. Don't expect much and it is easy to enjoy.
Peaked early. No surprise given the coaches.

Can't edit my post for some reason... But it was 1967... Lindgren won a six mile race in 30:45. So almost 32 minutes for a 10K for the national champion that year.

Not sure what the above quote means. Is there a time requirement to win? The last time I checked, it was the 1st runner across the finish line that was the winner. Has that changed?
Question:
Is it better to run a fast time and place 2nd, or run a slow time and WIN? Hmmmm...Not a lot of clock watching in X-C... JUST RACE!!!
That 67 race in Laramie was a hell of hills and altitude, and was meant to prepare/test the runners for Mexico City.
Laradise is only for the tough fella. You were too weak and soft to make it in the Beautiful High Plains! We LOVE Laramie and the place is a hidden Gem with amazing quality of LIFE. Summer and Fall in Laradise can not be beat! Winter's aren't bad at all - dry cold and not much snow. Little time in the spring can be a bit windy and snow showers for 6-8 weeks. Other than that - the weather is awesome and natural beauty is unbeatable! Although Stay away! We love the low population and easy way of living. Go Pokes!

they probably won't qualify for NCAA nationals as a team on the men's or women's side....
and Laramie really isn't that great from a trails perspective because Medicine Bow National Forest has soooo much snow all winter and the city doesn't have really nice soft-surface trails like Flagstaff/Boulder do
Cowboys qualify for NCAA Nationals!
Top 5, LMFAO they couldn't even sniff the top 20!
