This is why no one takes the "sport" of ultrarunning seriously.
The amount of drama and politics is embarrassing.
Guess that's what happens it's a sport filled with a bunch of failed runners and manchildren trying desperately to remain relevant.
Time to go back to watching MO FARAH videos to regain confidence.
Only Letsrun is taking the sport ultrarunning not seriously. And that's fine with me. I understand that a 4:21 miler does not understand the concept of ultrarunning.
Camille Herron is an outlier in ultrarunning. Pretty much all ultrarunners are humble human beings. Camille is the exception to that rule.
Sometimes as runners we should ask is running really serving us well. Or are we doing it to mask some emptiness in our life. I bet you Camille has serious issues she needs to address. Many ultra runners help others break their own fkt. Not gatekeep. She just showed she’s really empty outside of running.
That's a HUGE point. I've known people who have done a few ultras and have visited races (not run them) and most people are VERY supportive and kind to each other.

The majority of the ultra-world is laid back and genuine. Sure, there are the weirdos who obsess over gear/times/etc just like the people 1 minute outside of the Boston cutoff on the roads who make it their whole personality.
But at the top, and I've run with a lot of these people, Camille has been such an EXTREME outlier. While Sage likes to pick fights on social media and here, I think most of you can tell he's still a pretty cool human, quirks and all. But I've never seen anybody so self-obsessed in the ultra world at any level. Why can't people just be normal about things and stay out of their own way?

I always try to remember that this place is filled with a lot of young hotshots that have time to grow as people.
As for Camille, wow. Seems like she has some growing of her own to do.

I hope Sage chimes in here. While not everyone agrees w/him he at least has experience in this sector of our weird sport. I respect Sage.
It's crazy how many unabashed narcissists there are in the running world. Her ridiculous wikipedia page was a farce and it's stupid that it was left up so long with all the embellishments. Legendary? "known for". She isn't known outside a niche group of people! Come on.
What makes it more disheartening is all the people who follow these losers on social media, praising them, inflating their already blown up egos. They turn any slight against them personally into a social justice issue. They call any criticism against them "abuse". It's so weak, and tiresome. It makes it look like everyone in running is insufferable.
Don't follow any of these losers. Don't follow anyone who doesn't have real credentials. The amount of blatant self promotion out there is sickening. Don't give these people an audience in the first place.
Herron set the Guinness World Record for the fastest marathon by a woman in a superhero costume, completing it in 2 hours, 48 minutes, and 51 seconds, dressed as Spiderwoman.[29]
