The old man is so disingenuous. Elliot ran a negative split 880 under 1:50 with the second lap in 50 point (1:49.3 final time I think, anyone can go check, I don’t have the time). Of course Elliot could have run sub 50 if he’d ever have bothered to try. Old man Armstronglivs knows there’s a difference between not being able to do something vs not having attempted something. But he’ll ignore reality and engage in spine-cracking contortions of logic to attack Jakob.
I have to agree with others who claim that Armstronglivs has fallen over the edge ever since his man-crush Kerr was destroyed in Paris and Zurich.
Elliott himself said he never ran faster than 50sec. That he ran close to it in a half mile with a 58sec first lap (Cardiff '58) didn't make him faster, it spoke of his strength and endurance.
In the fantasy land that is Letsrun everyone is faster than the best they ever ran.
God, you are so dumb!

Jacob can split a 47 right now and keep that pace. If Lyles split that he would start falling off slowly. The farthest distance someone can sprint at their maximum pace is close to 300 meters. After that endurance slowly kicks in. 500 meters is enough to make it a tight race
If Jakob can split 47 he would have run 1:42 for the 800. He also would never have been outkicked in any 1500 including the WC finals and the Olympics. He couldn't get near 47. 49-low tops.

So Elliott was never "trying" when he ran his fastest times. Classic Letsrun. If only athletes "tried"!
You’re the one who’s a dummy. The point is Armstronglivs is disingenuous in not applying the same rules and logic to Jakob that he does to others, as he’s so blinded by jealousy. lol

Dude, tyty IS Armstronglivs. Just ignore the bitter senile old fart. He’s gone from amusing to boring since the Paris games.

Its always the case that anyone who takes a contrary view to the fans here is blinded by "jealousy". Fans don't need to be jealous to be blind - they simply can't see what is in front of them.
LOL. 3:27 guys are not low 50s guys. I was a low 50s guy and never broke 4.
400 speed has very little to do with 1500m time. Once you get to ~50s, it stops mattering unless you're talking about closing speed in an international sit and kick.
It doesn't matter that you ran low 50s and never broke 4. I knew a sub 4 guy who could maaaaybe run 52 on a good day, and he wasn't running a sub 13:00 5k like Jakob either.
I agree with you generally that faster mile does not necessarily mean faster 400, but it starts to get a little crazy once you are talking about a 3:26.73 pr. That's 55.1 pace for 1500 meters. How slow can someone be and still run that? I would assume sub-50 is a requirement.
Lyles has the speed and 400 experience, but Ingebrigtsen has the endurance. I think Jakob wins it, but it would be very close. Noah Lyles probably goes out hard, and Jakob will have to kick it in the last 100. After seeing Duplantis vs. Warholm in the 100, I was wondering if there could be another cool exhibition race, and I think this would be it. Unite the worlds of sprinting, and mid-distance running!
Noah Lyles would torch him in a 500m, Grant Holloway is 110m Hurdler and has run a 1:03.35 500m. I would put Lyles at 1:00 and change!
No, he doesn't. His best 400 time was 51s at 16. He won't have improved 3 sec. Do you see Quincy Wilson improving 3sec on 44x? Or Ovett and Cruz, who both ran 47 at 17. They didn't improve 3 sec. Maybe 1 sec. Ingebrigtsen will be lucky to get below 50s.
Seb Coe ran 51.xx as a well-trained 16 year old. He then split 45.x as a 21 year old.
I’m not saying this to be argumentative with anyone, just using this thread a platform to continue to highlight Seb Coe’s drug usage.
Seb Coe is something of an outlier as he was very slow to physically mature. At around 15, Ovett looked almost like a full grown man, and Coe looked like a little boy.
Coe also did a huge amount of plyometrics and strength work once he got to George Gandy at Loughborough. I believe he said he had to get tailored genes as the right waist size wouldn't fit over his thighs.
That and late maturity would tend to explain his raw speed increase.

You can try again.. Just keep moving the marker back a bit. To 550, then 600.. eventually you'll get it right. Good luck.
