Meet Directors want a fast time and will very likely listen to the one who wants the fastest race which is Jakob. I don’t remember races starting to be rabbited slowly after Rio because Centro wanted so and i don’t expect it now.
Why listen to the 4th place Olympic finisher who watched three guys go by him over the last 100m?
I don't believe this has been broached much. Jakob moved out to cover Kerr, Hocker gets a run on the inside. Without that decision I believe Hocker may not have got the gold (a moot point now and he ran a great race for the deserved win). Also Nuguse was going fast on the outside as well and without having to go wider to pass Kerr etc etc... But yes, Jakob will not do that again. With a pacer he'll go to front and run. Best way for him to win.

Exactly. Jakob feels embarrassed he let Hocker come inside him. He won’t repeat that mistake ever again.
Just saw via a social media post all top 4 finishers from the Men’s Olympic 1500m final - Hocker, Kerr, Nuguse and Jakob are all confirmed for the Diamond League Zurich 1500m on September 5th. With a pacer and pacing lights will be interesting to see the difference in times and placings 1st - 4th. What’s everyone’s predictions? Would have to give the edge to Jakob for the win and possibly a mid 3:26. He’s the master of time trialing and his 3:28 solo at the Olympics should not be underrated.
With Kerr present, it certainly gets a bit tasty, doesn't it? A pacemaker through in 2'44 with lights might lead to something extremely special.
No pacer out there that can split 244 through 1200m except Ingebrigtsen
I think Jacob will win, maybe do another 3:26, but not set a WR. I didn't give Hocker enough credit before Paris, but I'll STILL pick him for no better than 4th.

Don’t be too hard on yourself. There’s a reason it was known as the Hocker Shocker around the world.

If they can get Sisk pacing again (paced Jakob for his 3:26.73) through 1100m I think Jakob has got a really good chance at coming close to or getting the WR. Sisk’s pacing was exceptional. If Jakob’s form/fitness has improved since that race which I think it will have we could really see something special.
So you think it is unfair that Jakob gets a pacer for 1000-1100m when the medalist in the Paris final had a pacer for 1.450m? And when the 3 of them will have the chance for a similar pacing in Zürich?
2:44 seems pretty quick - 3.5 seconds faster than Paris, no? Maybe 2:46 ish with ideally ~55.5/55.5/55.5 and see who has what?
If Kerr could handle Jakobs 54.5-56.5-55.5 in Paris he should be able to handle even paced 55.5's and still kick w Jakob. But if Hocker and or Nuguse are there too, then very easily could be the same result as olympic finals. Kerr and Jakob are not going to easily out kick Hocker if he's there. Nor Nuguse.
....
You are absolutely correct on all accounts. Most importantly Cole know he HAS outkicked Kerr and Jakob in a fast race and Nugese KNOWS he can close with them now.
Sisk is the best rabbit we've seen the last couple of years indeed. I don't expect Lausanne going 3'26 again with only Rudolf (who did the first 800m in Monaco). Sisk actually will be in Lausanne but is running the individual 800m.

2.44 would lead to something special - a total implosion from the field in the final lap including Jakob.
Jakob went out in 54.8 in Paris which was a full second faster than anything he's done before and while I wouldn't say he imploded, it clearly was beyond his threshold and compromised him later in the race because he had to slow down in the second lap (56.6) just to regroup. At this level, running 55.5 for the third lap is damn tough so working backwards you're looking at mid 1.49's through 800 to get that? There is only one guy in history that could do this and he retired 20 years ago.
More likely is that they try and hit 1200 in 2.46.0 and see how close he can run to 40.0 for the last lap. But we should also remember that Jakob is running Lausanne and going for the 3000m WR in Silesia. He's already run two doubles at championships this season (Rome and Paris) - that's not easy. Let's just remember the guy is human and he's going to be the guy the field relies on to drive the race (as it is basically every time).

Of course I meant "40.0 for the last 300" - a 40.0 final lap would be pretty exceptional right ;)
Listen, I am obviously a huge Kessler fan, and I am not even sure he can run what he ran 3:29.45 again this year.I honesty would be surprised is anyone other than Jakob goes 3:28 or faster.
I think you are most likely right, maybe someone else makes it to a 3:27 high, but I think there is likely some rightful cashing in on Olympic medals for appearance fees, rather than racing again for glory. This race likely won't mean as much to the Americans, or Kerr. The whole year was focused on the Olympics. The Diamond league meets do not mean as much to them. How often have they participated before this? That kind of shows where they stand. Hope I am wrong and it is competitive!
