CDA speed ratings
CDA and Rocky both look good, especially with CDA missing a boy (hopefully they get him back this season). I suspect Boise High and Mountain View from Idaho will also look very good when they get speed ratings. I wouldn't be shocked if all four were in the top 10 at NXR NW.
Jesuit looks like the favorite in the NW on the boys side, but the question will be: can they put it together at NXR and win, which is what they struggled with for many years in the past
Crater
Great results for these guys, but neither team looks like a strong regional favorite.
I think CDA is still the best in the region, but it's pretty close.
I'd each team's chances of making NXN:
CDA - 75%
Jesuit - 60%
Crater - 60%
Rocky Mountain - 30%
Kamiakin - 25%
Star Valley/Issaquah/Franklin - 10-15%
Yeah CDA is the favorite now even with Rietze out. If he does come back for state or NXR, I guess he will be running close to the #4 guy they have right now (Heule).
Seems like the Northwest region isn’t as strong as some people thought it was gonna be. Highly doubtful that there will even be an at-large team on the boys side

I think Boise is better than people think.
They have a legit top 10 guy, their #2 probably would have run in the 9:30s if he ran it more than twice last season (maybe 9:20’s at sea level), and then they have a ton of depth. Star Valley’s #5 has run 5:01 on the track. Boise’s #5 is a 4:31 boy.

Jesuit needs to be moved down. Crater 80%, CDA 80%, Mercer Island 30%, Jesuit 30%, Rocky Mountain 25%, Kamiakin 25%,
Josiah Tostenson and Tayvon Kitchen #1 and #9 in the nation
Washington side Kamiakin was missing their #2 last week. Issaquah didnt look strong yesterday against Mercer Island and Redmond. When the times are combined from the different class races Redmond wins 42 - 44 versus Mercer Island, Issaquah 86.
I think Mercer would fair better in a bigger race like NXR because of their low stick. Mercer may be the best team in Washington right now, followed by either Redmond or Kamiakin. Still need to see Arlington and Sehome run
Yesterday Jesuit was missing Donnelly, who ran a sub-9 3k in track, and was their 7th nonsenior in cross last year.
Not sure how much his presence would help them.
Their top returner was only #4 on the team yesterday which might not be a great sign for them. Now I wonder where their top guy will finish at NXR.
They didn’t seem to be getting much out of their seniors (one of them was their 6th guy at NXN 2022)
Last meet Crater had a deadly 1-2, and their 3-4 were solid too. Their 5th man was just a little far behind them though (he did run a sub-9 3k in track)

Mercer island is by far the best team in washington right now. Their #4 didn't run in this. Redmont has a great talented 5 but doesn't have the same depth that mercer island has.
Also I am tired of the jesuit or/la hype. They are not going to make it to nxn this year. The washington teams mercer island/redmont will beat them.
I would not read to much into Jesuit tri meet results. My buddy had told me There number 1 one yesterday ended up number 4 but supposedly was training through the race. I heard he was in training shoes, had put in some long runs leading up to the race, and then jumped into part two of the workout immediately after the race. There 2 and 3 looked Solid both low to mid 15:30s. Course I hear is nothing special so we will see how they look at there first invite in a couple weeks. There seniors were supposedly running at 80 percent. One had been sick, the other had been out of state all week and not with the team. I Would not right this team off yet. Especially after there first rust buster. They will be in the mix for a top two spot in November. They race there first invite in two weeks.
I heard they all did a workout after the race kids from the other teams saw the varsity doing repeats right after they finished. I would assume this was a workout and some kids may have gone a bit harder than others but no one goes all out and then is able to do a workout. The same went for the girls I guess. I just re-watched the finish videos and none of them look like they are straining or even kicking hard at the end. So who knows what they will look like in 2 weeks. Also its early I assume most teams are doing this Franklin boys did a workout in their meet last week as well.

Where do you see videos?
Just the finish video on Athletic shows everyone crossing the line and you can see them all walking around and cheering as other kids finish no one looks tired
The boys had individual goals. Look at their shoes. First few who crossed wore their ”cheaters” the rest ran in training shoes. Not saying shoes had much to do with the results as much as mindset.
Both seniors boys and the #1 girl just returned from official visits the day before.
Unfortunately, rumor has it that a few runners on both sides are coming off injuries. I’m not counting Jesuit out just yet.
Franklin boys without their top 3
