She went sub-48 split on the mixed relay. Then had to run 2 additional heats before advancing to the final. I'd imagine she had some of that in her legs, still.
Interesting not that Lieke Klaver hasn't had the greatest Olympics so far compared to her normal self. So I wonder if part of the blame should be on the coach for not preparing them optimally.
You people really have no understanding of how split times work. She did not actually run sub 48. No cisgendered woman or non doped woman can do this. Split times are artificial constructs. And she ran 1 race only prior to her individual event. She stated in her interview that the relay had no effect.
Something was not right with her. Very sluggish, not her usual pop. It could have been nerves of course, but she had that glassy eyed look. I would not be surprised if it turns out that she has Covid.
It looked like half the Dutch team in the stands were wearing masks. Preventative or already sick?
She looked perfectly fine at the medal ceremony and is entered to run the 4x4 relay. Surely she would already have been to the medical tent for testing and ruling out COVID by now, don't you think?
No it did not hurt her. She ran the first 200 too hard trying to keep up with Sydney. When Sydney then kicked into another gear and she had nothing, she just deflated.
Nonsense. Sydney was inside her. Both were running their own race. Sydney kicked at 200m; Bol had little to give. A 47.9 400m will do that to you. Her training partner, who also ran the mixed relay, didn't make the 400m final when she really ought to have done. The keeping-up-with-Sydney narrative is partisan, but fatuous.
OH FFS. She did not run 47.9. A split time is an artificial construct. Do you really think that the women in the 4x100 relays are running 9 seconds for 100M or the men are running 8.8 seconds for their legs?
Sydney was inside her and had already made up the stagger going over the first hurdle. Was breathing down on Bol going down the back straight. Bol and her coach thought that Sydney was going to destroy the back straight as she did in her first sub 50 WR and that is what they were training for i.e. to keep up with Sydney. That was doomed to failure, as Sydney is a substantially quicker runner and thus used less energy to keep pace. Exactly the same thing Rai did to Warholm in their race.
Partisan but fatuous? Oh I see you, really want to be willfully stupid. Ah well. Keep at it.
Sydney destroyed both Bol and the WR at sea level - I am good

A 47.9 relay leg is probably more like a 48.5 open 400, but your point is valid; it was probably close to as fast as she could run. It probably ensured that she had no chance to run a 50.x to get close to Sidney. People also seem to be discounting that Femke had the two rounds of the 400 hurdles prior to the finals. She ran them in 53.8 and 52.5, the latter of which was only a few tenths off of her time in the finals.
No, it absolutely is not. There is no direct correlation between the two. Allyson Felix has the fastest 400 split ever run but her PB is 49.2 for the block start 400.
Bol has not demonstrated she has the capability to run sub 50 at sea level. My expectation was that she would run another 51s. Definitely not a 52s and definitely not a 50s
