I’ve seen some ridiculous GFMs in my lifetime by people who I know have the money but just want to rip others off, hence my reticence.
$30,000 is FAR more than will be necessary, unless they are planning on having the entire extended family attend and take in all the sights of Paris while they are there. I've been to Paris and know it is expensive, especially during the Olympics, but $30K is too much to ask for.
Flights from Miami are right around $1000 each (economy). Airbnb is showing a place for 6 that is "lavish" for $822 per night. Figure 6 nights that is $5000 (fees etc). So you are at $11,000. Yes there are cheaper places.
The Opening Ceremonies are Friday July 26th 400 Finals are August 9th, The 4 X 400 is August 10th, So that is 16 or 17 Days, They have to eat ETC.

Just listening to radio news right now … apparently plenty of last min deals in Paris, hotel occupancy only at 71 percent bc people think everything is booked. Downtown hotels still available at $100 a night.
