To me any track programs are a hit given I love the sport. Noah Lyles is simply an extremely talented sprinter who comes off as a low-life POS. He wants to be Usain Bolt but can never be. Bolt was playful and it was simply a reflection of his culture how he acted. Lyles tries way too hard to be something. Watch when he acts like a douchbag, his eyes are always looking around to see who is looking at him. He desperately wants attention. My opinion of him only went down. Sha'carri is simply who she is, not very educated, acts like she is from the hood, but is genetically gifted. The Jamaican training facilities shocked me. To accomplish what they do based on what they have is incredible.
When Lyles ran at the Racers Grand Prix in Jamaica at the beginning of June, he and Bolt shared a hug and handshake and spoke for a bit. The interaction between them was on camera. Bolt told Lyles that the sport needs personalities his and to keep doing what he's doing and not to change. I like Lyles but I agree, I think he tries a bit too hard and wants attention. I want to see hi do well but wouldn't mind if he toned it down a bit.
As with Lyles, the old ScR was just "too much" and I really didn't care much for her act but still liked to see her do well. I like how she is much more focused now. ScR in the 100 and Lyles in the 200 represent the best chances that the US has for gold in the sprints.
I personally like Kenny Bednarek for the men and Gabby Thomas for the women. They show some personality, are respectful of their competitors, are well-spoken in interviews, and just go about their business.

lol dog whistling into oblivion
lyles is a good guy and the best sprinter since bolt, maybe the 2nd best ever. ScR is not an “act.” You don’t care for her personality. You don’t care for her culture. If you don’t like Lyles, same goes.

It's slick production and somewhat entertaining though it's not a documentary - more like infomercial. Interesting no mention of Lance Brauman's criminal record and Dennis Mitchell's drug suspension. Both occurred a long time ago and maybe coaching is some sort of redemption but important facts are missing which leaves the impression it's purposeful omission to promote a feel good story. The pool of good coaches at the top is very small, and it would be interesting to know how athletes go about choosing their coach.
One thing that hasn't been mentioned yet: the difference in commentary quality between the race segments taken from the International feed (the Brits) and those taken from the US feed (the NBC guys). I really miss the days when Peacock used the International feed with Cram, Hutchings, Walker, Meadows, England, Yamaguchi. All are knowledgeable, articulate, descriptive, and know when to talk and when to shut up. Now Peacock just uses the NBC feed. Ato is fine, but the rest of the team can be painful. I'm not a big fan of FloTrack, but I hope that they will use the International feed.
I thought it was an easy, engaging watch. I liked getting to know some of the non US stars. A lot of them come off as very likeable, like Zharnel Hughes and Shericka Jackson

Its a shocking experience listening to the us broadcasts of track and field. There is one or two talking points, usually something beyond stupid like "she will pass her family,up in the stands, in the first turn and thats when she will speed up, because seeing them will put a fire in her heart! Her mum and dad, both LSU Jaguars alumni and NCAA allstars just like her, her brother getting a doctorate.", repeated over and over and over again, rather than to give objective information about the race, the competitors, how they have performed so far this season, what is the tactics and who will benefit etc.

I went into it pretty neutral about Lyles and came out disliking him. Guy's just a douche. Shacarri's a bit annoying too. Everyone else was cool tho. I liked Kerley and Hughes a lot and the Jamaican chicks seemed sweet
show needed Jacobs to run better or for someone to run a 19.5 to really built the tension going into the champs. Maybe knighton next season and his quest to dethrone the king…
Sha’carri in contrast to Lyles came across much more authentic. More talk about pressure and failure then just self bravado. She talks more about why she needs to present a confident face in order to perform well whereas the presentation of Lyles seems to lack dimension. Interesting that they don’t talk about his mental health struggles/ antidepressants that plagued his Tokyo Olympics as that would provide that dimension to Lyles
Also interesting to see Jacobs’ struggle with injury in 2023. He mentions at one point only ten fully healthy training days in the 3 month period before Worlds.
3 episodes in and I have seen way too much of Lyle’s mother. This entire thing is a Lyles show with a few other very side people in it. Unlike the F1 and TDF shows that really spread the camera time around between pretty much all the main players. I now see what people mean by the ugly Americans.
Hope they add over events in season two and don't just stick to the sprinters
Yeah. I can’t believe they are only showing sprinters on a show called Sprint.
I think it’s a good hype show. But it’s really an extended segment of fluff pieces that they show leading up to events. Like the recent Trials coverage, they would show a bunch of weird angles of races and not show the results. They almost have it but it tries too hard to make it a soap opera and about their personalities.
I’m fine just showing the athletes prepare and then race, even if they don’t talk like prize fighters.
