There was a time in my life when I also would not typically run as slow as 8 minute miles unless I was doing a 35 mile training run, but I WOULD go run with my wife once in a while. She usually ran with a group of runners who worked in her lab back then, but maybe twice a month she wanted to go on a run when the others weren't available (she didn't like to run by herself), so I would do that.
In the OP's situation, if I were him, I definitely would figure out a way to go on that run with that lady...and again, he didn't say he wouldn't.
