It is completely insane and unethical that "hitting with a wet towel" is branded as abuse. Gjert is a hero who is responsible for his son's success. May they pay for their attack on him.
You dont get 6 years for the stuff he is charged with - not even in Norway. He is accused of:
1) ”…. to have poked the child with his finger in the chest and on the upper arm every month”
2) ”and screamed loudly that the person in question was an idiot.”
3) ”During an argument in 2022, Gjert Ingebrigtsen allegedly hit the same child in the face with a towel.”
4) ”He is also said to have screamed until the child started to cry”
5)”restricting/limiting the freedom of movement of the child”,
it is not legal to hit someone with a towel, so he might get convicted. But it wont be for 6 years.
1) "…. to have poked the child with his finger in the chest and on the upper arm every month” -- that's it? my mom used to spank me and tap me on the arm with a wooden stick.
2) ”and screamed loudly that the person in question was an idiot.” -- my mom used to yell at me all the time for getting bad grades in school and for being naughty
3) ”During an argument in 2022, Gjert Ingebrigtsen allegedly hit the same child in the face with a towel.” -- so it was just whiplash from a towel? do you know how soft towels are?
4) ”He is also said to have screamed until the child started to cry” -- same as 2, my mom used to yell at me all the time. i'm pretty sure most parents are some point yell at their children for misbehaving
5) ”restricting/limiting the freedom of movement of the child” -- so the child was grounded?
Your user name asks "what an I missing here". How about the evidence that is presented in court (which hadn't happened yet)? But by all means trivialise the allegations made by his daughter against him, which could result in a criminal conviction and prison.

It is more likely he will pay for his. He is the one going to court.
Just because you endured worse than what is being described in the article(although there's no way to know the full extent of it) doesn't mean it's ok.
I would argue the fact that you feel the need to diminish the experiences of others, means you didn't escape the abuse unscathed.
I don’t think that has anything to do with that premise. Scandinavian culture is very different than what Americans (assuming that’s what you are) are used to- relationships, environment, everything. Potential child abuse is taken extremely seriously (as are traffic violations, much to my detriment).
Read it again, it's not just the towel incident: "According to the indictment, the family violence must have taken place in the period between 2018 and until 5 January 2022. The two-page indictment describes threats, coercion, violence, limited freedom of movement and other forms of violations."
Also, luckily, just because "most of the world beats their children" doesn't mean it is an ok thing to do in Norway, where that is not allowed to do.

Your reading comprehension appears rather weak. The father has been indicted under a more serious part of the criminal code than assault - namely "Abuse in close relationships", in common parlance "domestic abuse, both physical and psychological", for a series of events that has spanned multiple years, starting in 2018, ending on January 5. 2022, with that one towel incident being mentioned as a specific incident - not as the whole thing.
The towel incident, if accurate, would on its own validate an indictment - assault has always been illegal in Norway, and in 1987, we extended that right to not be physically assaulted to children.
So, Jakob and family are trying to eliminate white people? And hitting your child is “caring for and guiding”? And getting police involved is “removing safety nets”?

So you think someone should go to jail for hitting someone with a towel? I don't approve of it, but....really?
One time when I was 8 I told my Dad I hated him. He threw me onto my bed pretty roughly. I would say that is similar to a towel hit. In the same ballpark at least. Whaddya think, should he have been jailed?
So if a husband one time pokes his finger aggressively in his wife's chest or a wife one time slaps her husband or throws something at him [ hey maybe in each case it's after an affair was revealed by the other, which is of course not illegal] should they be convicted of assault in each case? Such physical contacts are tot dissimilar to a towel slap. C'mon
And being a mean parent [ losing temper, or putting their kid down or easily grounding kids] is not against the law last time I checked.
Look if he was regularly physical with a kid of his [ even mild stuff] or severely mentally abusive, sure, charge him.
But if one time he whacked one of the kids with a towel and was just kind of an overbearing jerk a lot of the time.....I don't think that's criminal. Not a good look, but criminal?

growing up i would have been assaulted 20 to 100 x per day under these definitions. brothers. boys girls sports fights. no big deal except the psychological terror of a parent. while not really dangerous probably. in kids minds there is a momocidal maniac in the house.
“hitting the face with a wet towel so that a red mark appeared”: That’s it? If so, the whole thing sounds like theater. Most of the world sometimes beats their children. A red mark goes away pretty soon, especially on white skin.
HARDLY something to be going out and saying this while being proud about it
