Ok. It’s not her fault that on the biggest stage she ran a smarter race than the people who were theoretically better than her. And it’s pathetic to hold a grudge against someone’s child because you dislike their father (despite never having met either of them).

She’s amazingly accomplished at a very young age. Among the best high school Colorados runners of all time, despite just having started training seriously. Nothing wrong with celebrating that.

Is it just me or did anyone else get rubbed the wrong way by this quote? Even now, sub 4 for hs boys still has to be in a different universe to sub 10 for hs girls. As it is, I'm shocked that sub 10 for girls is worth more competitively than 8:50 or even 9:00 for boys.
Agree, I think sub-4 for boys is more difficult than sub-10 for girls.
I think sub-10 for girls is probably more difficult than sub-8:50 for boys, just by looking at the numbers.

Based on what Professional Runners are running. . .

The Women's world record for the 3k is 8:06.

The Men's world record for the 3k is 7:20.

On the 2 mile times. . .

The Women's world record in the 2 mile is 8:58

The Men's world record in the 2 mile is 7:54

If we go by 2 mile times women are slower than men by 1:04 seconds

If we go by 3k times women are slower than men by 46 seconds.

A 9:58 would be equivalent to a 8:54 for a male 3200, assuming we go by 2 mile world records.

LOL, that's not how math works.

7:54.1 = 474.1 seconds

8:58.58 = 538.58 seconds

538/474 = 1.136...aka men's world record time x 1.136 = women's world record time (or girls time is 88.0% as fast as boys time with 474/538).

10 minutes (600) seconds x .88 = 528.2 seconds (9:48)

A 10-minute girls' 2-mile converts to a 9:48 boys' 2-mile.

Also, a 10:00 girls' 3200 (including conversions) is 58th all time in the Milesplit database. 58th for the boys is 8:43 (However, an argument could be made that there is more depth on the boys side).

if you compare what professional women run with their 3k times, and compare it to professional male 3k times. It will give you a more accurate conversion.

I think the custom kit is cool. I thought it was just a generic On kit, but during her interview I realized it had her school name on it too. Great that On is making custom singlets for their athletes. I wonder if they gave them to her whole team. A dozen Niwott OAC jerseys can't be much more than 1, given it's a custom design.
It'd actually be cool if they gave Niwott 14 jerseys for an incentive for girls/boys to make varsity. It'd be cool if they did that for every school that an athlete got an NIL deal. Nice for On because a bunch of kids would be trying to wear their jersey. Nice for the kids because they'd get a custom jersey, and future athletes would get to learn where it came from. Just another way to get people a bit more invested/interested in the sport.
Who the hell cares about Niwott! Not everyone is as obsessed about the shady Ritz family as you seem to be. Kids don’t care. There are plenty of other runners to idolize. She doesn’t cut it at this point.

I understand why Ritz had a shady past. AlSal, Lcarnitine injections, etc. To his credit, he was cooperating with the investigation and did tell the truth of what happened. I'm curious why you said the shady Ritz family? What makes his family shady?
