Woman here. This thread is very accurate. This was on my mind today when at the gym. There was a blonde girl doing squats in front of the mirror. Yes, she had tight clothes on so you could could see the lines of her a**. I looked back and literally every guy on the treadmills were staring her down. So the OP is actually right. It’s objectification.

Happened to me. Some man child pointed out a “camel toe” I had and laughed. I was distraught. Pay attention to yourself and don’t be a gym creep.

The issue with that is that you are easily able to wear a simple shirt and longer shorts/ sweatpants and not be objectified. You are just objectifying yourself

Maybe it's a sign of bad fitness, but when I'm on the treadmill I don't "see" people. I know they're around me, but the gym kind of goes into background blur untill I'm done running.

If you're really concerned you can just report the suspicious people to the employees at the gym. Some gyms even flag people so when they log in or swipe their membership card it alerts the staff so they can be on the look for suspicious activity. I find it hard to believe that this isn't a troll post though because there's no way a non-runner would be able to find this site to post some complaint about maybe getting looked at.

Man here. Men look at women, it's a biological fact of the male brain. Staring for a length of time may be in bad taste, not denying that...on the other hand, people will stare at anything their brain finds interesting if it's right in front of them. It's not like treadmills are on a swivel.

Having anger or fear from unwanted male attention is a biological fact of the female brain. Easy solution: if you are a female who doesn't want male attention and can't shrug it off, don't go around in a sports bra and spandex leggings in front of a line of men. Go run in the woods. Saying that the men are objectifying someone by looking requires you to be inside their headspace, which you are not.

Woman here. Actually came across a gentleman runner yesterday that proved that you guys are creeps. It was a warm day here yesterday so I was watering my lawn in my bikini (not trying to be provocative; just feels good). A male runner was coming down my street towards me. As he got close, he looked over for a fraction of a second and then looked away. He never looked back. It’s not like he stared at me for 10 minutes thinking about my t*** and p**** the way you guys do when on the treadmills. You guys are gross. That guy was respectful.

I know the first thing I think of when I get on a treadmill is t and p.
