Cade Flatt DNFs yet another 800 ( 4/5/24)

I don't think he should be in college at all. That could be part of the problem, among other reasons. Going from a small town in Kentucky to a major college campus was like Larry Bird going from small town French Lick to Indiana University in 1974. It didn't work out and he left campus after three weeks. Got a job for a few years and went back to school at smaller Indiana State. If things don't improve this outdoor season, Flatt should go back home. Maybe work at the local Dollar General while trying to figure things out.

Like I said. He's gonna end the season with more DNFs than sub 1:50's 😂

College track and field is horrible. Absolutely unwatchable.

Getting passed by other runners s u c k s. It can suppress adrenaline level. It is one thing to race splits of 53.xx and 56.xx in high school and no one passes you. Not everyone is cut out for deacceleration in 400m races &/or 800m races. Instead of character assassination, encourage the young man to race 27.xx or 28.xx 200m splits, first three splits.

The guy looked like he was actually 25 years old when at high school.

It's natural to fall off as he approaches his thirties. The 800 is a young man's game these days.

As long as a person in their 20s/30s/40s doesn't make sexual advances on everyone they believe to be 26-28, I'm not sure what your problem is here.

I would guess my neighbour or the secretary at my work are 29. If either of them are actually 19, it makes absolutely zero difference to me.

Cade always struck me as somebody who would immediately get caught up in partying in college.. especially after hearing he was going to Ole Miss. He can do whatever he wants, but the stuff he got away with in high school isn't so easy to get away with and compete at a high level in college.

People forget he was supposed to be coached by Vanhoy who left for Cal Poly shortly after. Cade is being coaching by someone who didn't recruit him and probably adjusting to his college lifestyle.

27 or 28 are barely moving on the first 400 at the NCAA level. No serious adult male runner should waste time opening an 800 in 28. (Unless you mean geriatric masters gunning for 2:00.)

Just because you split your first 200m in 800m races in 28.xx and finish slower than 2:04, does not make splitting 1st 200m in 27.xx, Cade Flatt unwise. He needs to: 1) finish 800m races, 2) race 800m, sub-1:50.

I don't care what others do, Cade Flatt needs to split first 400m in 800m races in 55.xx then concentrate on finishing sub-1:50.

None of us here actually knows what he's been doing in college, what his injuries have been, and what his workouts have been. Bottom line is that he should have gone to a school like Georgia (in 2022-23) or Texas A & M where they know how to coach 400/800 guys. Converting guys downward from longer distances does not involve the same training at all, and he would not likely have flourished with Van Hoy's 800/1500 training.

Respectfully Flatt is battling to make the squad for conference right now, you shouldn’t even think about the trials unless you are in that 1:47-1:48 type shape or better RIGHT NOW.

Cade was made to fade even if Vanhoy had stayed. Now he can't even get laid with a dorm maid. Boy just can't make the grade.

He needs to quit and do something else, waste of an athlete
