I heard Hicks and Ky did workouts with the team every tuesday and friday but your saying that they arranged their mileage how they want to.
They decide doubles , mileage and leaned on workouts that were best for them. They basically called the shots. It caused an issue with a few top team members.
The team suffered. For example they could never get it done as a “team” in cross country. Thy should have won in 2022 , but took 4th place. Their team dynamic was bad
I am a bit confused on how Hicks ran the show when the workouts were always tuesday friday with the team. Looking at Hicks strava it shows everything he did. long run was sunday as well.
Wow that's interesting I heard from some elite recruits that they really like Santos and think he is a good coach but it does make sense that he isn't very good. Why do guys like Lex and Leo, Patrick koon, Paul Bergeron all decide to go there.

Unlike Nico, Lex & Leo have a stocky (heavy-legged) build that's become more pronounced since high school. I don't think, anatomically, they are genetically designed to reach the sport's upper echelon.
Thanks bro real kind. Academics yes I get that and prestige but if the coaching is that bad it makes no sense to go there and give up your running career.

This is fake news. Santos runs the team. And 4th in the nation isn’t a failure.

Stanford is one of the universities in the world, slick. And their distance program is elite. Let this hate go, do something productive. No one is transferring and Santos had great performances from his team this weekend at home. Go cry

Elite school with elite athletes and with a very non elite coach.
Check the TFFRS from 2022 Outdoor for Stanford- 9 guys sub 14 and 3 sub 28. I would imagine that would attract a lot of recruits from the class of ‘24 given that Stanford recruits very early compared to most colleges due to admissions. Not to mention Hicks winning XC and Ky’s Outdoor dominance as they were nearing their decisions.
Looking at that TFFRS page is startling compared to the current state of the program. One of the Topper twins ran 28:44 as a true freshman setting the Freshman record! Nowadays they are an afterthought.. it seems that Santos’ training works (signs of brilliance in Ky, Cole, Charles, Topper, Milo, Boyden, Burke..) but doesn’t necessarily “stick” for extended periods of time. (ex. burke ran 13:38 two years ago and hasn’t touched it since) Weird.
Reminds me a lot of Gibby / Harvard. In more ways than just academic. Iverson went from 4:13/8:36 as a freshman to 7:53 2 years later (1 eligibility year - covid). Then got 50th but moved back since. I think there's another one was AA his freshman year (Baker?) but regressed since then
Obviously the training is different - but look at how much of a bust Cole sprout has been.
I might be an idiot but why did Ky Robinson and Charles Hicks do so good and everyone else struggling so bad.
They did their own training that worked for them. Thats what their former teammate ha said and what I heard from others.
The rumor is Hicks ran the ship
This is 100% false.
But even if it were true, why is it a bad thing? What is wrong with a coach individualizing training for their top athletes, and giving those athletes input? They each won NCAA championships and had amazing years.

You are just a hater, lying and slandering.
That's not what happened. They did their own workouts instead of what Santos told them (the team).
