Joe and Emma are off people. I don’t think Joe needs to get any kind of paying job with his family money. Been told by a former male athlete in the group he jumped ship because Joe is two face and was caught talking sh!t about his athletes in group text.
No men would run for Joe for a reason. He manipulates women in thinking he’s a good coach.
Morgan McDonald - briefly referenced in a Coffee Club podcast.
can you remember what episode? Morgan has always spoken highly of the boss group when I've listened to the pod
Also interested in this, I've listened to the pod on and off but have only ever heard Morgan speak positively of Team Boss
Yeah. Because what does he have to gain from trashing Joe? Reality/ he got super injured immediately then left after Joe trashed him in a group text forgetting that Morgan was in said group text (whoopsie). Joe’s diarrhea mouth and infallible ego work their magic again.
Mike Smith also has her ex’s new girlfriend in that camp so not as good of an option.
It might be a bit awkward, but Elise and Hannah both seem mature enough to handle the situation well. Hannah even follows Elise, though it makes sense that Elise wouldn't follow Hannah to just see all her posts with Sean. Luis and Elly split a while back and both are training with Mike Smith, which is arguably a worse situation
When Elise was on the Coffee Club podcast back in early January, she said she was living with her family at the time but was looking for a place of her own.
So, putting everything together, she's still living in the Boulder area, is not injured, is not Grant's girlfriend, is still sponsored by Nike, but likely is no longer with Team Boss unless she has a special arrangement w/Joe Bosshard to take a long break after fall/winter training with the team then return in April for her big push to Paris.
Speculation: thought it was possible she was taking Grant's approach by returning to her HS coach Jason Hartman. However, appears Hartman has been at Saginaw Valley State U back in Michigan for several years now. So, is the current Niwot coach helping her out? Maybe her dad?
Elise did admit in that January Coffee Club podcast to "needing to find wonder again with running", or something to that effect which reflected extreme burnout from professional running.
So, not surprising at all to see Elise skip indoor racing in favor of a long, slow, no-pressure-to-race buildup to the Trials.
She ran Bryan Clay last year, Mt. SAC the year before. Thus, we may see her racing again in a couple weeks.
Or, we may not see her at all until Pre which she would be required to race per her Nike contract.
Whoever gave her the advise to leave BTC during an Olympic year did her wrong. She literally could have given up her slot on the Olympic team doing so. Now she’s hurt and out
Do you live under a rock? Have you not seen Grant Fisher run lately?

Honestly, I think people underestimate how hard it is to stay at the top, especially as a female athlete. Very few women have dominated pro running for extended amounts of time--Jenny Simpson, Sara Hall, and Kara Goucher are the only recent ones that come to mind. Karissa, Elise's former teammate, is also super injured in an Olympic year. I think people just take Elise's situation as an opportunity to hate on Joe and Team Boss for not much of a reason.
Even over at OAC, Alicia Monson is the only woman in that group excelling. Sage H-K, sadly, doesn't look poised to ever make a world team. Josette is a solid maybe. The rest wouldn't even be in the conversation if they were Americans. There are more examples of women who excelled then struggled (Heather MacLean, Abbey Cooper, Whittni Orton, Allie O., etc. etc.) than consistent ones (Jess Hull, Alicia Monson, and maaaaaaybe Nikki Hiltz), so I think Elise is just following a normal trajectory rather than being ruined by Joe.

You conveniently left out Elle Purrier St. Pierre who has been more dominant than the others you mention (and for a decent period of time and is poised to come back even stronger for several years). Why are you saying "Maybe" for Nikki Hiltz, who is a better athlete than the three you mention? Simpson, Hall and Goucher were never dominant on the world stage and only Simpson consistently won US championships.

Vissa PB’ed basically all last year. Yes I understand she is injured now. Andrews ran 14:46 indoors, I think the expectations (making a team) maybe are just a bit high for her. The Team Boss criticism is valid because besides Cory McGee it’s hard to pinpoint anyone running well and consistently. Dani Jones PBing but not much to show for being in the group that long. It’s a large team and there are many injuries and stagnant careers.

Agree with you re:ESP--my bad for leaving her out. I still stand by my prior point, though.

Kara Goucher at the top??? She was never at the top. She broke 2:25, once! Her 10,000 medal was in a weaker field than the Olympics. See the Beijing results one year later for proof as she PR'd and didn't medal.

Silver medal, 30:55 pre-SS and 1:06:57 pre-SS doesn't do it for you, eh?
