Rupp would have been unstoppable in his prime with super shoes
He would have been a beast. Probably a few WRs that would still be standing. It’s too bad there can’t be any comparisons made between then and now all because of supershoes and whatever the new undetectable drug is.
This makes zero sense.
Rupp had exactly the same shoes as every runner of his time, if not better (early access to prototypes).
And he was FAR from "unstoppable." He barely even won major international races. Literally three Ws in his whole looong career lol.
So why would he dominate if he'd been in his prime now rather than the 2010s??
By GR Testosterone as a teenager (proven records take the Magness). From Nike/AlSal.
Likely the same for a really fast EU MD guy coached by his mad scientist father….
My dad told me that my son would have ran 10-15 seconds faster in his 2mile if he ran on the rolled cinder tracks like he did at the national meets in the 70’s. He said they were so fast like running on a road surface.
Guess we should start the if i had a rolled cinder track i would run world class times every time an old head complains about super shoes.
I'd counter that Ryan Hall would have been untouchable (for an American) with super shoes. Ritz would have even benefited more. Rupp had access to the super shoes before anyone else, and benefited most from the shoe tech.
