Easy to say money is not important when you are born in an above average family in one of the richest countries in the world.
When Jakob was a kid his family had a definition of themselves as a little below average wealthy I think (had to collect return bottles to have enough to pay the bills -source “Team Ingebrigtsen” TV series)…
"If we start comparing ourselves to American basketball and football players, you're heading down a dangerous path. It's something we can't do much about.
"I think money is the wrong focus. Our job is to train as well as we can and perform, not count notes in the bank. You don't need anything,"
And on social media:
"You get stupid in the head from being on Instagram. I end up in the algorithms myself, but I try to narrow it down to the best of my ability. I think it's important to distance yourself from other people in order to focus on yourself.
He's right. Bryan Adams sung it best:
"🎵Ain't no use in complainin'/When you've got a job to do.🎵"

But...Norwegians are not Americans and they fundamentally misunderstand a lot about our culture. I knew a Scandanavian a while back who tried to convince me that a the reason we pay taxes is to redistribute wealth. That's why *they* pay taxes, and their taxes are much higher than ours.
NFL guys play 17 brutally punishing regular season games each year. The average career is less than five seasons and most walk away with health issues that surface later in life.
NBA players have 82 physically demanding regular season contests during each regular season.
Elite distance runners seemingly race only 8-10 times per year (less if your run for Bowerman Track Club) and appear to put more energy into avoiding each other than racing each other. In some regards, the football and basketball players hold full-time jobs while distance runners are gig workers on Fiverr that work when they feel like it.
He would probably also have run in the 1500m in Zürich and in the European X country championships if he hadn t been ill in Budapest and injured in December.
And the road mile in Riga if he hasn´t been married.
Norwegians like to pretend they have moral high ground on Americans even though all their wealth comes from oil. Don't get me wrong, it's a great society if you're born into it as a white Norwegian, but there's no Statue of Liberty in the Oslo harbor. They take care of their own, and they keep the "riff raff" out, all the while looking down their noses at America, where anybody can make it with hard work and a bit of luck. Just take a look at the Olympic teams these two countries parade out in August. Would that we could all be so blessed as Jakob. Can't be too hard to make it to the Olympics when every material thing is taken care of for every Norwegian from birth due to the Norwegian Sovereign Wealth Fund made of trillions of dollars of oil money. Of course worrying about money is "very American" for Jakob. Very crude and common to care about putting bread on the table.

Norway collects third world analphabets from clan based societies as if they were rare Pokemon.
All because some bleeding hearts think "it's the right thing to do". Honor killings, intimidation robberies, drug fueled shadow economy, chaos ridden classrooms, all in the name of "inclusivity".
Immigrant teens in Jakob's hometown even admitted that they're robbing native teenagers because they want access to luxury items like high end phones, jackets, etc, which they can't afford otherwise. But they also highlighted the "respect" part of the violence. "Respect" through violence.
The chance of succeeding is much higher in the Norwegian society than in the US, and yet these thankless pests create parallel societies based on structures from their native sh*thole country.
This is what happens when you invite the worst, demand nothing, and give everything (apart from the iPhone 15 and Canada Goose).
I’ve got to say my respect for him just went up. It says something about his competitive mindset, seems he does what he does JUST for the glory. It goes some way to show why he’s had the success he’s so far had. He’d still be out there doing it for considerably less than he currently makes.

See guys, this is exactly the kind of xenophobic diatribe I expected.
You know. I'll give this to him. I have been saying this for a while myself. Yes, Runners train hard but audiences in the end determine the pay rate, we lack any capacity to pull in the same numbers as basketball, baseball, soccer, football, etc, etc.. It was dumb for sprinters like ShaCarri to have complained at Eugene about the prize money even though she herself gets paid 10x more than her average competitor.

He doesn’t understand USA’s for profit healthcare system and Expensive college tuition. He doesn’t get how in America survival as a senior is a race against time into how much we saved before retirement. He probably doesn’t even know America has a $1000 ambulance bill. I forgive him.
Just wanted to send you some love to say that you never fail to excite me with your posts. You deliver the goods a hundred percent of the time like mechanical clock work. I've learnt that man-made radiofrequency is indeed the no.1 underlying cause of death in the USA, canada and many more. It does affect athlete performance to a certain extent as well since it generally degrades all parts of the human body. Rekrunner needs your wisdom.
Rich boi complains that others are whining about money. He just goes out and trains hard...and makes great money.
In terms of highest paid athletes in Norway, I'd say hes probably top 3.
No he isn't. There is a long long list of fotball players ahead of him, then there is some cross country skiers, then there are biathletes, then there are some alpinists, then there is a chess player, then you'll find him.
Thanks for your support. The participants of this entire thread are definitely inferior to me outright by a galaxy on this one point of anthropogenic RF and EMF alone, which seems like it's a small factor but I can assure you although the electromagnetic wave in space-time is minuscule but after 1 second, it's monumental like a giant ball of asteriod heading earth's way!!!!
Small packs large!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You think men with small endowment are inferior to men with larger ones???? Think again, in electricity, a single chain atomic reaction sets off a gigantic cloud of nuclear power and destruction!!!!
If you look down on me or look down on 'small' electromagnetic waves, you are a goner, you are finished, your fate and doom is sealed!!!
Respect the great things, but even more so respect the things you can't see!!!!! All great men of wisdom pursued only the things they can't see, they don't care so much about food or clothing but rather about their invisible soul and spirit!!!
But while we're at it, it's easy for him to talk about money, being Norwegian. He know that even if never ran another mile in his life, he would never have to worry about money, his child(ren)'s education, healthcare, etc.
No one in Scandinavia worry about our childrens education or the access to health care. We are happy to pay our taxes and get something from it.

Every nation has taxes, bud. The reason your country is rich is oil money. Don't pretend it's because you have some enlightened society that shares for the common good. We can just look to Norway's attitude towards immigrants to see that's not true.
Yet another reason to hate Ingebrigtsen. Dude is already worth $5M at age 23 and has a rumored $1M yearly Nike contract, with prize money and additional endorsements on top of that. Pretty easy to say that money doesn't matter when you're already rich at 23. Seriously.
