Meditiate your way to faster times

Jim, if you meditate "mindfully", then "you" already know

that "you" is an impermanent, vacillating program. Behind

this role, construct, manufactured fiction is a centre of

awareness that watches the breath go in and out, the

thoughts come and go. At some point the centre of awareness

is gone, and no one is home. I have an ego, but I am not

that ego. The ego is a fiction. You woke up with it this

morning, and assumed it was real.

Zipp: your experience that you describe is not really mediation per se. You were just getting fired up and maybe visualizing your race as many, many people do. Even more simply put: you were just thinking about the race you wanted to run and ran it. Meditation can be many things, but even in a very general sense, what you were doing was not really mediation. Just letting you know. There are many forms of it, I realize that, but again ?real? mediation is much different.

I sit and meditate in a lotus position as I focus and squint and stare at an object far in the distance that at first I cannot see. But with the focus comes clarity. The object comes into view, and then I can see all sides of it, manipulating it not with my eyes or my brain but with my soul. I do the same. I feel at one with air pollution and the constant drone of traffic.
