The defintion of a woman is that she lacks a Y chromosome is valid and is a solid defintion of what is a woman. For activities involving physical prowess, it is also relevant. From Matt Ridley, the best selling science author of "Genome."
“But if you inherited a Y chromosome from your father, you are a man; if you inherited an X chromosome from your father, you are a woman. There are rare exceptions, superficially female people with an X and a Y, but they are exceptions that prove the rule. The key masculinising gene on the Y chromosome is missing or broken in such people.” Excerpt From Genome Matt Ridley
It is also disengenous to argue for trans participation on the basis of birth disorders. Caster aside, the main issue is not people with DSD, but transwomen.
I'm sorry but y'all are giving Jakob way too much hype right now strictly on lore and second hand advice from his Dad.
Do I think Jakob could run under 60 minutes for the Half and beat Kerr? Yes.
Do I think Jakob could run under 56 minutes? Heck no.
Yes, He's a 3:27 1500m and 12:48 5000m guy with a high VO2 max and does many endurance-style training. But, he has not even done a WR Attempt on the 5000m for us to be making a strong assumption on his Half Marathon potential. He hasn't even run an all-out 10K to know if that's his event to beat Chep. It's an insult to Jacob Kiplimo to suggest a 1500m/5K guy can beat him at an event Kiplimo has spent the last 5 years training for + Kiplimo's a 12:41 5K/26:33 10K guy - It's not like he's a slouch.
I'll just say Sub 60 to be frank. Anything faster is beyond anyone's knowledge to test. If I'm proven wrong in the future it's because he would have trained for the Half by then.
Welp,
8.5 months later and Rojo got his answer. 1:03:13 at Copenhagen, Not shaming him because he ran 3:30 1500m just Two days ago, He didn't train properly for this race as he's coming off his 1500m/5000m Olympic Races, 7:17.55 3000m WR, 3:26.73 1500m near WR. He basically got dropped after splitting 27:27 for the 10K.
Give him 2-3 months and he can easily drop under 60 minutes. Give him more 5K/10K experience and he could go under 58. But given that he's probably deadset on getting revenge for that 1500m Olympic Final. I'm sure he'll be throwing down Sub 3:30 1500m for atleast another 4 years. It'll be years before we see him take the Half Marathon seriously... Oh well.

he doesn't even need 2-3 months. Actually if he had gone out in something like 28:30, I believe he could have hung to to a sub-60.
to op: no, but he could beat kiplimos wr on that aided course
Bump
The more I think about it the more I realize that this record cannot be legit. I doubt he’s a doper otherwise he’d be running faster on the track, but the drafting must’ve been insane or the course was short.

I would Kiplimo has run fast on the track. 12:40 and 26:33 and bronze medals in Tokyo and Eugene. His performances on the track just don’t seem as mind boggling because there are several guys in his ballpark.
If the course is not short, I think he is doping. No way could the drafting account for now all of a sudden there is a human being who can sustain 4:20 pace for 13 miles. The bicarb and super shoes can’t account for such an improvement. Dude is doped to the gills and fins.
