They were aiming for top 3 today. Hilda is chasing top 3 at nationals.... which means maybe they are hoping to take down Tuohy?

Hilda was aiming for top 3, Doris was helping Hilda at South Regionals. I hope to the coach allows Doris to compete at NCAA without the burden of helping her teammate.

Hilda (not Doris) stated her goal for NCAA is top 3 so who do she plan on beating Doris, Katelyn, or Parker? When Hilda said that Doris wasn't fazed so obviously she feels she will finish higher than Hilda goal of 3rd. Watch out for these two at NCAA who WILL contend for the win.

Graham Blanks was wearing black vaporflys at VCP with a similar white bottom to the shoe Valby wore. Defintely those and not the Nike Pegs, which Nike makes in a white/orange colorway with the Gators logo on it.

If you look at South Regionals you will see Parker gaps the field before 1 km, Doris easily catches up but not Hilda. LESS than 500m later Doris slows letting Parker go and Hilda to join her, they run in tandem til almost the end. Even when they tired to close the 50m gap with 1km to go...Doris dragged Hilda to striking range of Parker. With 300m to go you see Doris finally DECIDED to go after Parker and instantly dropped Hilda and closed rapidly on Parker but it was too late.

I would love the front running Parker to win but I honestly give Doris the same odds as Parker to win at NCAA!

Knowing a lot of the women’s performers from the year that raced here today. They all ran a good 45-60 seconds faster than they’ve raced all season. Definitely a short course as well as a fast course.

You really never learned that cross country is not like the track? You honestly believe that every race is measured with precision in terms of accuracy? Maybe someone could teach this VIPAM kid that he doesn’t understand this sort of thing.

I’m not a hater of Parker Valby. I like her a great deal and think she’s one of the best talents we’ve ever seen at the collegiate level. I really like watching her run and view her as sort of the female equivalent of Connor Mantz due to her front-running style and going for it in every race.

That said, the course was short. Go to timing site and analyze the splits to draw your own conclusions. I did an analysis of the splits and mentioned my findings earlier in this thread and in another one. If we’re to believe the splits, Valby ran the last 1000 meters at a 3:53 mile pace. The top 3 all ran under a 4:00 per mile pace. Nobody in the history of the sport, make or female, has ever done that. Use your brain, FFS!

You sound like one of those that is clueless about the sport of cross country. You believe that time really matters. Instead of stewing about people having legitimate doubts about Valby’s time, celebrate the fact that she beat a talented field in a convincing fashion.

It is bad enough when you guys can't stand predictions but it is another when you can't stand results. I can look up the results from the race that you say can't happen.

My team ran many races this year that we wheeled. The courses were nearly always accurate while the splits were nearly always in the incorrect spots.

Again, it’s XC. Time doesn’t matter. Place does.

The attitude of time mattering in XC is why we now have “track on grass” courses and why MileSplit does stupid things like keep a list of the fastest times for high school runners from across the country.

College coaches couldn’t care less about XC times when they’re recruiting. They want to see track times and they want to see how runners do vs other runners in the same race and on the same course.

Hmmm, imagine if there were a software algorithm that could sift through all of the race data and agglomerate and normalize results across different courses.

That is all true. That is why you shouldn't care about what time they ran for the regional 6k yesterday. You sound silly if you claim that the women didn't run 6k or the men 10k at the regionals yesterday. Every runner amd coach and fan will tell you that the regionals are 6k. The rules all clearly state that the regionals must be 6k. If a coach had a valid complaint about the rules being violated, they need to file a protest. Betting they would do that if they found out an ineligible runner qualified. If the course was non-compliant, they would do the same.

Is it possible for there to be any GPS watch data available, maybe somewhere on STRAVA? (I don’t have STRAVA.)
