If Rupp (or Mantz) break 2:07 I will delete my account. Even as a Rupp hater, it was incredible to see him win Chicago a few years back- felt like American marathoning may be back.
I believe it was a death rattle. How many times do we have to hear about 'a great buildup, no issues Haven't seen [Rupp, Bekele, Fauble] this ready in a while'? I sincerely hope he runs well. I do. But at this point in his career, it's put up or shut up time. Great weather, great field, likely quality pacers in a great crowd for running.

Cute. But the expiry of Salazar's first ban - he is still banned of course - means nothing for American elite runners. He could train American high schoolers or African or European elite runners, hypothetically, because who would want to be openly coached by a known abusive cheater, and who would sponsor that willingly?

There is zero chance of this happening. Galen is no longer an elite runner. Connor Mantz is better than Galen at every distance now and Connor will not get the AR. Galen is now a 37 year old 2:11 marathoner (in the old shoes), but he may run 2:09 due to the super shoes.

I think the fact he's optimistic is about the best sign we could get. I think he knows he's not challenging for the win with a 2:01 guy, but given that he's gotten the best training he's had in a long time, I expect a good race from him, 2:06:30-2:07:30.
It's gonna be fun seeing him and Mantz against each other. I've got Rupp over Mantz, but I'd love to see Mantz with a big PR and a win over Rupp.
