People are just calling Magness out for being the biggest grifter in the running world.
He posts meaningless pseudo-intellectual drivel on social media to try sounding smart. Things like "sometimes you should just settle for 9.99 instead of 10.00 on your GPS watch"
Basically his sole purpose is to trick people into buying his crappy books - which are essentially plagiarized or paraphrasing other authors/researchers, often times without citing them (hence the plagiarism).
Here is a review from his most recent book:
This is the first book I've encountered that was so bad that I felt compelled to write a review.
First, the author provided a shallow and superficial summary of the important psychological research on resilience.
Second, he failed to acknowledge to the researchers who actually did the research that he based this book on. This is unacceptable for high school term papers, how was this allowed in a profession publication?
