Ryan Trahan appears to have made the right call in quitting running in favor of making goofy youtube videos. He does pop up from time to time in other people's running videos and clearly still has some wheels, even though he claims to be fat and out of shape.
Not every runner that goes on to a successful career is a celebrity. The top 5 on my xc team are now surgeon, MD/PhD/professor, vet, venture capitalist, chem prof. If I extend to track we get fighter pilot, dentist, lawyer & surgeon2. Most importantly, they are all solid husbands and fathers. Ironically, the 'track dentist' probably has the most fun. He only works 3 days a week, is dentist to the stars in a big met area, is an avid golfer with access to best clubs, excellent sailor, and very willing to share his good fortune with old HS and college buds.
On the women's side Lois Brommer is a successful lawyer. Ashley Higginson another lawyer (and not yet officially retired). Bri Jackuszevic, youth prodigy and longtime holder of HS 5000m record, is a rising product management exec at Nike. There must be 100s more as the females generally have the higher gpas.
Certainly not the most successful, but Nicholas Sparks has written many top selling novels, some of which were sold to Hollywood (e.g. The Notebook). He attended Notre Dame on a track scholarship.

If you want to get technical they both ran before "D1" was a thing. Carter ran a total of 3 freshman meets. Does that really equate to being a D1 runner?
