Hey, it happens. You lose once in a while (Kerr certainly has). Josh is a great runner. As good as Jakob? No, but still truly great. They will meet again.
As for memes; is there an adult out there who cares about them?
just let him enjoy the adrenaline that is still running through his veins. in his defense, jakob did go out of his way to make sure that kerr lost in the qualifying rounds when he easily could've just not surge at the end and still quality with a little more energy left over.
For background, I'm 29 and married and I enjoy memes.
I thought the first meme was the funniest and the rest were a mixed bag. I think if it's Josh's mate posting the memes and not Josh himself then that's alright by me. None of them seem overly harsh against Jakob as they mostly focus on his suspect virus story which I think is fair play.
I'd be interested to know if there is a correlation between age and whether a person found this petty or not.
Josh can talk all the sh*t he can, in the big picture Jakob has as many golds as he has and more total medals at this world championship. He beat Jakob for the first time ever, but lets see if he consistently beats him now or will this one race be the highlight of his track career.
Not sure why Dave feels the need to post this. He switched to the 3km steeple as he was too slow at the 1500 and still failed. Jakob would beat you by 100m champ

YOU MISSED THE POINT
Jacob is a cocky SOB that feels like he can’t be beat. Josh proved him wrong. That is the whole point. If Jacob never loses again, Josh still proved him wrong. It is not a matter of who is the better athlete or who has the better career. Josh proved him wrong.

Jakob doesn’t feel he can’t be beat, he feels if everything goes as expected he will win. Those are two vastly different propositions. The latter is absolutely correct and is literally why everyone considers it an upset that he lost this race. He WAS expected to win. Did anyone honestly think his odds of winning were less than 50/50?

In Eugene I thought his odds of winning were 4/1 and in Budapest I thought it was closer to 3/5. Given these two championship racing fails and assuming a similar final lineup and fitness of the field I would give him odds of of 1/5 for the next one. These two losses are now closer to a trend than coincidence.

The thing is, consistency only matters if you also win when it counts the most. In the 1500, Jakob's consistency has been irrelevant. Based on his championship racing performance in the 1500, it's looking more and more like Tokyo was a fluke since he was paced by Tim. I doubt he'll get that lucky again, so why should people pick him for favorite in this event? Even if he manages to break the WR, he will continue to be very vulnerable... Can't outrun the field on his own and can't outsprint all of them. He will never be king of the 1500.

It's surprising how many don't know that those expected to win don't always win.
