in a race like this, i usually don't know who im cheering for until 200 to go, when my gut tells me. it would have been Mu all day before the shenanigans. my heart may still be with her when the time comes
With all the Mu vs. Keely vs. Moraa talk I would love if Reekie could sneak in for a medal. Fourth in Tokyo, 1:56 pr with a recent London DL win and 3:58 1500. Doesn't have nearly the margin of error as someone like Mu but I am rooting for her! Her strength will help her across the rounds.
Of course it doesn’t matter who you want to win. The greatest talent of her generation is going to win. Some of you folks have been a bit slow in grasping this. Athing Mu could beat them at 400. She could likely best them at 1500. And she damn well will beat them at the distance in which she is as great a talent as we have seen. Woody Allen said “80% of success is showing up.” Well Woody never met Athing Mu. For her, 95% of success is showing up. She shows up and she wins, and she receives scathing criticism from those who have mostly not stepped in the arena and are not worthy of being acknowledged on this subject. By the end of this month Athing will be a 21 year old who has 2 Olympic Gold medals and 2 World Championship Gold medals and many in the peanut gallery will still take out their sling shots and aim at this athletic giant as the intelligent laugh at their impotence. Appreciate greatness people…
Imagine cheering for someone who who can barely be bothered turning up to Worlds.
Imagine cheering against one of 2 Americans with a realistic chance to medal in one of the races this website obsesses over. Mu, Moraa, Hodgkinson. Rinse, repeat. In Budapest, Paris, Tokyo, LA. Onward.
She's such a great talent a pity she will probably never reach her potential. The jokes mainly come from frustration as we see someone appear to piss away what they have.
With all the drama surrounding Athing Amu and the anxiety we athletics fans have been exposed to with regards to her competing or not, I go with either Moraa or Keely
"our thought process, openly, is that we’re going to just train here in L.A. for the next two weeks and the next time she gets on the plane it’ll either be on vacation or to Budapest"
Stop trying to be clever.
And you understand that to mean she doesn't want to be there?
I’m looking for Mary Mora to win this one. Keely for silver. I’m rooting for Mu to break ties with Kersey and get a coach who cares about the sport.
I actually am pulling for her not to win because I don’t want Kersee to get any credit for his strategy of never racing his athlete. Maybe with a new coach she’ll drop back down to the 400/800 where she belongs.
Moraa, just to see LR fanboys/racists seethe, but really anyone but Mu. Pretty much no races since last year. Garbage for the sport and she does NOT deserve the accolades.
