Most of us work for employers who forbid us from political activity on the job. One is free to protest or lobby on their own time. I would be fired doing this type of thing on the job, even if the majority of fellow employees agreed with my political stance.
I don't know why high profile athletes expect to be subject to different rules than most of us. Megan would garner more respect if she marched outside of city hall rather than use her employer's event to push her agenda.
One risk with all the political activity on the job is that fans wonder if all her effort is directed toward actual on the field play. Sports is about the mission.
When she stumbles like she did yesterday, many fans wonder if her play is foremost in her mind.
