Wiley had to get up at 6:00 am on race day to take a college class on zoom, then went out and won her semifinal over Mu and McGee. She also raced 28 times since Feb 1 while Tuohy only raced 17 times.
I am disgusted at the numbers of posters on here that seem to totally enjoy trashing a 21 year old highly accomplished NCAA athlete. They are showing their ignorance of the sport by doing so. A thread titled “Tuohy is done “ is stupid, asinine and ridiculous combined. 7th place or even a dead last 22nd at a National Championship is not going to be the end for any 21 year old athlete. She sure didn’t sound “Devastated “ in her post race interview. Negative threads about ANY athlete who competes at a high level shows that the idiot posting them is about as worthless as a football bat.

There were NCAA athletes in just about every event and some even made the US team. Stop acting like Tuohy has it so much harder than everyone else.
Did not say that. My post only addresses after college all athletes have more time and less demands for their time (other than running).
It was ok - but hardly "done" especially with her strong close (2nd fastest last 200 in the field I believe) so she was not staggering in like she was back in May.
When the 7th place finisher has the 2nd fastest last 200 and finishes 24 seconds behind the winner it means they did not run an efficient or effective race.
I think her approach was understandable given what happened at NCAA's and that she did appear to be a little burnt out. Far better to start a little too conservatively and finish strongly then try to stay with the leaders and implode spectacularly; there will be time in the future to do that. Steady and solid yesterday, she did fine. On to next steps now.

Monson set a very hot pace, around 14:40's, relatively early. It was smart for Tuohy to conserve a bit especially after NCAAs.
Plus she shared in her post race interview that leading up to NCAAs she was struggling and DNFing workouts.

CJ Allen in the 400 hurdles coaches himself while working on his PhD in a science field. He got 2nd and made the world championship team.
There are lots of people I might say are washed up and "done." But someone who is 21 years old, still in college, competing as an amateur, and is already faster than every woman in the country except only 6 people, wouldn't be one of them. As long as she chooses to keep competing, she has tremendous upside potential.
Unless there's some career ending injury she hasn't disclosed or she's planning on retiring from the sport (stranger things have happened) to say she's "done" seems like quite a reactionary opinion.

Rather than dredge up examples of 28 year old male 400 hurdlers with other time consuming things in their lives, why not consider how Tuohy’s performing vs. pros in the context of how American collegiate distance women typically perform against pros. I suppose Wayment made the steeple team last year (at 23 years, 10 months) and Markezich finished 4th in the steeple this year (at 22 years, 11 months), but the record of American collegiate women competing as well as Tuohy has at 5k must be extremely thin.
Love these thread names begging for attention. Hopefully she’ll take a well-deserved break from competition after THREE long grinding seasons. She should cut herself some slack as trying to peak three times and really never taking a break since last summer would scorch anyone. I think 15:15 is amazing on burnt-dead legs. Maybe skip indoors next year and use that period to prep for outdoors; set some NCAA records that will last a very long time.
The gap between her and other top college girls have narrowed while she is not ready to run with the post college pros. Nobody is sure thing is US women distance events until they show up.

Maybe Touhy did the same? Maybe Efraimson? Maybe Cain?
