In order to get World rankings through XC you need 3 races to count. Most of the Gold tour races occurred in Europe. These are the races that you need to run and place highly to get the most points.
For those that aren't aware the Olympic 10k are using the same qualifying system. 8 Cross country ranking places will make up 10k field.
Here are the only 2 Gold tour XC races on the schedule thus far for the remainder of 2023.
Why are these gold tour races so important? Big points. If you win your National champs you get 1080 (which is dreadful) Gold tour 1240. Here is the points table:
What the current group of women did who are now qualified for the 10k at World Champs did was show up to races with no one really there and they all accumulated massive point averages.
Now the challenge of Flying half way around the world in search of races to earn points.

The woman with a 34:01 PB ran 35:54 in Budapest, and was lapped twice by all but one other runner. At least Natosha Rogers made the field.
