Currently on paper, if Tuohy and Chmiel remain, it seems FL would only be ‘close’ to NCState in cross-country only if they get another transfer the caliber of Olemomoi.

You agree?
But that is the knowns, currently on paper, not including wild-cards, like Perez.
UF may find themselves winning XC, Indoor Track, and Outdoor Track in the same season. I think the last team to do that may have been Arkansas in 2019 and before that I think it has been awhile.
They have 1 and 3 from last year, they added another top ten runner, they have Bush who was top 15, and they have Rauber and other runners who can effectively take the 5-7 spots.

No, I don't. Cross Country 2022 was a long time ago. "What have you done for me lately?" is what matters.
Valby - 5000m NCAA Champion
Mazza-Downey - 10000m 4th at NCAA; 5000m 9th at NCAA

All very interesting, I'd still go 1 - Colorado, 2- NC State, 3 - Florida, 4- OSU. Florida will have the issue of trying to get their 5 all healthy to the line in November. Of course if more transfer in, they will have more depth.

Regarding health, FL needs to find the correct hill, of the correct grade and correct length. They should then make that their bread-and-butter training-locale.
They should work up to performing at least six hill-repeat sessions per weak, no less than 15 hill-repeats per session. They should start doing these immediately, for strengthening and injury protection, in preparation for cross-country.
Most of those hill repeat sessions should be aerobic; when the Heart Rate monitor hits 86-87% Heart Rate Max, the athlete immediately turns around and goes back down the hill. The descent should be done fairly slow to greatly reduce risk of injury.
These reps should be done mostly in lower stack-height shoes. They are great for strengthening the whole kinetic chain, including the feet and ankles.
In this type of training, they should be consuming sufficient quality calories, with sufficient protein, like probiotic milk. This is necessary to get full benefit of this training.
Recovery parameters should be monitored to prevent over-training.

thats the one big advantage NC State has, this years course is one they've run a lot. they know it very very well. I don't think Valby has run it nor any of the transfers.

These are not hill sprints or hill races. They are done with good form, maintaining spring from the legs/ankles. End the session early if legs are too flat.
Most of these are done in the aerobic zone; do not exceed 89% HR-max; anabolic vs catabolic.
‘Recovery parameters’ are things like sleep patterns and sleep quality, resting-HR, etc.

I don't know that they have run it more than the one time, but the course has many abrupt ups and downs and some tight turns which I don't think are the best for Valby. Also more uneven terrain vs the golf course (although hilly) in Stillwater.

Just looking at their athletes, one can tell they likely do a lot of hill training.
Uhhh, Florida is NOT at altitude, and does not have much in the way of hills.
But exciting developments to watch, for sure.
Clearly you’ve never been to Gainesville. It’s actually quite hilly. At least as far as the rolling 50-60 ft hills you run in cross country. They’re not competing in sky running.

Someone should have told Solinsky that Gainesville was so hilly so UF could have run them. Valby cited after the XC race that she didn't have a ton of training on hills which didn't help her.

ya the story kept changing - before the race there were hills (on a golf course I recall). After the race somethinng like "I've never run on hills like these"

Uhhh, the story did not ‘keep changing’. Go watch the Solinsky interview. He said they went to a golf course that had some hills, and Valby did better than expected because of the Arc Trainer. That information does not conflict with “I've never run on hills like these".
