If you were calling in an order of food say. and you were ordering for you and someone who you didn't know their order and gender but someone you were with did know the order, you'd say, "what are they having? " because you wouldn't know to say he or she.
Do we base pronouns off of sex or gender? There’s way too many genders so that would get confusing. Hiltz is sexually a female so referring to Nikki as “her” shouldn’t be an issue.
You are suggesting a huge shift in how we talk about people, because right now the default is to ask a person what their identity is, not look at their genitalia. Should we dig up birth certificates and find people's "real names" because it could get confusing to respect their wishes? What about people who go by nicknames or middle names? Should we eliminate names altogether and just go with SSN? That would be a lot less confusing.
Mets fans used to call Chipper Jones "Larry." That's his birth name. But they did that for the sole purpose of annoying him.

So true, and you may even know the gender but not the specific individual within a group of similarly gendered people (see last sentence of my post right above yours).

Second this… if Hiltz was actively supporting biological males competing against women, I’d say by all means give her a hard time on this. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a quote from her stating she thinks men that identify as women should compete against females. So let’s please stop with these unoriginal and if nothing else, very annoying posts.

She should have been DQed. She didn't want to waste steps trying to pass on the outside. There was no room on the inside for her to move in. LSU runner didn't move to the inside. Hiltz used her arm to push off LSU runner off her stride.

from the race video it looked to me like Rose got herself right in the middle of lane 1, which is about where she looks in this still picture. I don't think Nikki had adequate space and shoulders or something hit. The real question is why did Nikki choose to pass on inside? Rose was in middle of lane 1 for the last 40-50 of the race. Bad habit to get into for a race that really counts.

If somebody beat me by impeding me at the finish line I would be pretty ticked off. I can't help but notice that when Hiltz and Rose hugged each other, Rose weas showing no agitation towards Hiltz at all. Maybe she was just being a good sport but she didn't act like she felt she was cheated out of a win. I would love to hear what she is saying about it.

Are you not supposed to hold your line of progression to the finish? I agree that Hiltz would have been smarter to commit to the outside but would have risked running extra distance and losing the race. I guess she took a very quickly calculated risk.

I also notice from the video that it looks like the contact such as it was was at or immediately after the finish line so there was no obstruction. That photo that looks like Hiltz is knocking Rose off balance was AFTER they hit the finish line and is not an unusual shot of runners right together who pushed as hard as they could at the end. That was no DQ. Amazing finish though.
