Explain the popularity of the NFL, the NBA, UFC, etc.
This is something I have thought of for a long while. The sports mentioned (and you could toss in MLB) are seen as professional sports since they have been around for a long while as such.
Sports that are primarily seen during the Olympics are not seen in the same way. The ideals of amateurism are still pervasive in how people see the sports. The ideals of fair play and that these are not really "professional" sports. Every now and then I come across someone who does not realize that there are professionals in the Olympics (aside from men's basketball).
Do you ever come across anybody under the age of 50?
According to some of the posters, drug testing is mostly ineffective. So this leads to runners who pass drug tests to be assumed guilty as well. There is no way to prove a negative. As Sifan Hassan has said, "test me every day". But many posters just assume she is dirty. So I agree with getting rid of the tests entirely.
There is a huge problem when great achievements are made and the first thing we read is doped to the gills. And now, even college kids are dragged through the mud on this site.
Get rid of the tests. Let the athletes take whatever they want. One huge side benefit: websites like this will disappear. Thank God.
This nearly universal doping is ruining the sport. High school kids, college kids and byu grandpas, everyone involved with nike, all brits, most Africans, every sprinter.
Does anyone on this board understand that doping is dangerous and unhealthy? That's the reason it is banned.
Any substance taken in excessive amounts is dangerous. Small amounts of EPO and various steroids clear the system quickly. But yeah, I've read the stories of a cycling team dying from blood clots due to EPO.
