Valbymania has created this illusion that she and Tuohy are in the same level during the xc season but we realized during the championships that they were never in the same level.
Valby was running on short fast courses that hyped people up and made them create the illusion. When Tuohy ran down a 12-second gap and cruised to a 3-second win, it showed how much gap Valby still has against Tuohy.
Fast forward indoor season, the gap between Tuohy and Valby isn't getting any smaller as what Valbymania claimed it would be.
Only a person blind with "Tuohymania" would not see the gap closing. They have raced four times in college.
Let’s look at the 3k and mile, shall we? Didn’t Valby have a 3k PR slightly faster than Tuohy last year, but now Tuohy is 13 seconds faster? Incredibly, the margin in the mile is the same, Tuohy at 4:24 and Valby at 4:35 for a 1600 DMR split which converts to a 4:37 full mile. You are looking at outdated 5k data and results from a highly tactical XC championship race. So who is actually improving more? Also whatever happened in high school is irrelevant now. The current trend is clearly in Tuohy’s favor.
funny, because katelyn doesnt care about times in cross country, she said that herself, times in cross country doesnt matter unless its a historic course

i truly believe valby isnt injured, shes just not fast enough, she did not want to go up agaisnt katelyn who is having perhaps the best indoor season ever for a distance runner, valby wants to win a title, and she knows she wont win, and she wants to save her valbymania face from getting destroyed not only by tuohy but possible three other ncaa runners because ncaa indoor championships isnt a time trial, its a tactical race
Injuries happen, you know. I like both runners and hope they find their way back. I don’t get the mentality of bagging on competitors because they might not be your favorite. Cook in particular is just a freshman. Did she take shortcuts or throw up red flags in high school.
There’s a lot of good young talent in the United States. We should be hoping that all of them do well now and in the future. Comments like yours are disgusting but I guess that haters are gonna hate. Get a life…

Only thing I’m hating on is the coaches that know better.
Everyone with half a brain who has been in this sport more than a couple years knows exactly what the issue is.

I agree - it is a battle between AR and TX with the head to head races being the 400 with 6 AR and 2 TX qualifiers and of course the 4x400. Can Britton Wilson beat Adeleke? AR needs Lauren Gregory to come up big in mile and DMR as well.

If arkansas qualifies mores than 3 women in the 400 ill be surprised. I think at most they will get 3. I strongly feel britton should have just contested the 800 it maximized their scoring potential and since texas has an athlete in valery tobias who scored in the 800 both indoors and outdoors going to nattys. Texas has more scoring opportunities. But anything can happen and it makes for an exciting meet.
I think ark felt Wilson can finish 1 to 3 in 400 and come back in 4x4. At 800 she is still a novice. Add altitude, heats and Rose, Willis, Whitaker and prognosis would be place 4-8, and tougher rebound to 4x4.

I agree - also if somehow Wilson can beat Adeleke it takes points off the board for TX. 400 also preceeds 800 and maybe opens up chance for her to compete on DMR, or as pointed out more rest before 4x400.
