Really good but don’t forget the indoor mile isn’t that big of a deal. Outdoor mile or 1500m is more representative. But I do agree she is a bit like Cooper teare, a very good 5000m runner who’s even better and more promising at 1500m.
If there is a runner who is capable of taking down Jenny Simpson's ultimate record of 3:59 in the 1500m, it is Tuohy.
That would be the collegiate record, not the ultimate record.
The whole thing is sad. No testing and no shame are a bad combination. And lets be honest, but Wiley has willingly gone along with it. She dropped out of UC precisely because she did not think she would be able to run as fast without the Johnsons' help, and we have subsequently come to learn what that means. Hopefully they do not make a bigger mockery of the sport than they already have. Again how HU is being allowed to compete given the allegations is scandalous.
How soft was Simpson's record if it stood for 14 years? That's a pretty hot take.
No NCAA champ ran close to that time in 14 years and Tuohy's time is #10 all time US on record legal tracks per USATF, #13 all time overall.
Maybe Wiley will break it at some point, but still an amazing effort by Tuohy.
All mile records are soft. 63 American women have run under 4:05.00 for 1500; Tuohy's best is only 4:06.84. The fact that her time is #10 US all-time is a product of how rarely the distance is run.
It's hard to say the **college** mile record is soft when that is THE event for collegiate 1500m runners and it hasn't been broken in 14 years.
For the pros, sure. It is run a lot less frequently than outdoor 1500m.
Given the publicly available documents and court allegations, someone please step up and tell me where I am wrong if you want to anonymously downvote me. Do it.

*indoor college event
St. Pierre, Hiltz, Hull, Johnson, Simpson, Vissa, Degenero, Houlihan... every top 1500m runner coming up through NCAA ran the indoor mile in college
And every distance runner in history ran the 3000 but most wouldn't say that Bosley is the best in history. Don't take it so personally. Bosley and Jacobs wouldn't be faster than previous greats even though they broke their records.
It started with Dudek. Just shifts from runner to runner.
Claudia Lane, Chmiel/Masciarelli, Dudek/Starliper, Thorvaldson/Brown/Hutchins, Healy, Cook, Valby... anytime a girl has a breakthrough performance they all keep comparing them to Tuohy. No need to put down one athlete to root for another, all of them have done amazing things and who knows where the future holds.
I do find it amusing seeing the [Insert Upcoming Ladies Phenom]MANIA meme here lol

They are compared to Mary Cain's prep career above all else.

Not really Mary Cain, but more Katelyn Tuohy because she's the top collegiate runner right now. Mary Cain is 26 and living a normal life.
