If running is mostly talent, why is it unethical to dope?

I see 2 main problems with PEDs:

1. Fairness. Running would become an arms race. The best-funded teams/athletes would have access to unlimited resources, drastically improving their advantage.

2. Health. PEDs have serious potential health risks. We're not talking simple road rage here. We're talking death and permanent disability. A PED arms race would tempt athletes to push closer and closer to the edge of a catastrophic health event.

By playing stupid semantic games over terms like "performance enhancement" you think you can make an argument that doping is just like anything else that aids performance. Cutting corners "enhances performance"; so would punching out your competitors. By your kind of argument, that should be allowed, too. So you think there is no distinction between accepted training methods and taking drugs that boost performance levels beyond what talent, training and technique alone can achieve, because if we allow one form of "performance enhancement" then anything goes? As dumb a fallacy as any I've read here. Violence in the boxing ring or on the football field is acceptable so violence in the street and the home must also be ok.

Why dope if it doesn't give an advantage over other competitors? Who would bother doping if they weren't running against others? If you want a doped pr, do it on your own and risk your health for a bs time and no recognition or reward.

If the shoes gave the advantage that EPO does they would be banned. They don't - so they aren't.

liar. there is a limited amount of students accepted. for every black accepted over an asian because of racism one black gets access to the best education and a deserving asian does not.

BS. Simplistic garbage. And obviously blacks from a disadvantaged background don't "deserve" an education. But I wasn't talking about education but using "affirmative action" as a metaphor for assisting those without equivalent advantage to others. It seems you would have been a suitable candidate.

Doping is the lazy weak minded fool’s way of improving performance. It is only used by those who lack the will to work hard and who cannot accept their own shortcomings. By those who do not understand the ecstasy of the grind and who run for the wrong reasons.

This is not entirely true because the doping allows the grinder to grind harder because the hormonal charge is superhuman.

One can dope and certainly not be lazy.

But when one can break the threshold of studied maximum velocity of natural humanity...or one can maintain a 171 bpm in aerobic mode, fracturing all studies regarding maximum ATP usage and defying the creation of pyruvic and lactic acids...

That's when it becomes unethical. It's a science project...not a human.
