Hilariously no one on this thread is allowed to say why she is "world class." Hint: because she is using peds. You have to be a special class of stupid to think she ran her prs clean. If people are going to start a thread comparing a college runner to a pro doper, I have no problem breaking the mood.
Unfortunately, the more closely I follow this sport, I have come to believe it is full of dopers at the very top.
But is every post and every thread going to start by stating that "these times and results are suspicious" and "there sure have been a lot of busts lately" and so forth?
Don't we all know and agree that doping is a huge problem in our sport. It sucks. But we can't really say for sure that anyone is clean or dirty until they are busted. And if they are never busted, that still doesn't mean they were clean.
We can have a feeling about some people but honestly, that is not proof that anyone is clean (or dirty).
I am the the first one to admit that I have no idea who is actually using PEDs. That said, I still want to watch people race (as do you, or you wouldn't follow the sport).
So, to rephrase the OP's question, if KK and KT were racing a 5000m on your local HS track tomorrow and you had a $1000 bucks to bet on one of them, who would you take right now?
Klosterhalfen does not have a kick, and everybody knows that if you do not have a kick, you will lose 80% of races against opponents with the same PR as you.
Sure. If someone is much faster than my favourite runner, then he or she is obviously on PEDs (and my favourite runner obviously isn't because PEDs are only rampant on the highest performance levels, or are they?).
The other thing is, whenever people tell me that someone with an eating disorder can become world class in an endurance sport, I wonder whether these people have ever been serious about doing an endurance sport themselves. I mean, besides sitting on a sofa for hours in a row.
As far as Tuohy is concerned, she might turn out to be one of those teenage wonders who as adults don't quite live up to the expectations. If a 16-year-old girl runs 5k in 15:37, you normally expect her to run sub 15 at age 20.

Wrong, by letsrun code 101 section 1
If you run 15:37 at 15 years old, you should be burnt out and nonexistent at 20 years old.
gotta love how trolls cant even use an american pro runner to compare her to because at 20 years old, katelyns faster than ALL OF THEM in the 1500m, mile, 3000m and 5000m 🥰

Right now, KK, for sure. Is that even a serious question? Maybe such a race could become interesting in 2024 or 2025.
As for Koko, she kind of pulled a Farah/Hassan. Pre NOP 5000 PR: 14:51, NOP 5000 PR: 14:26. No comparison to KT (yet).
Yes. You are confirming what everyone is alluding to. Tuohy is a decent American runner but nowhere near world class. Her 5000 at BU sowed that she has hit her peak but the run was nice while it lasted.
You may be right. Coco is a little older and is very fluid in her running. Right now, I don't see a good comparison. In a few years, I think we will see some great matchups I hope.
Or if someone runs prs that historically reflect peds, then they are obviously on peds. If someone is running in the 14:20s (which I call the Ma's Army line), they are doping, period. I have no trouble with that conclusion. It is the same if they are competing for medals at the WCs or the Olympics. That is just the state of the sport. Threads like this are based on a state of complete unreality, that we are comparing the same thing, that the sport at the upper echelons on the pro level is in any way on the level, that the incentives and necessity to dope to be competitive in pro running do not exist. College running remains (hopefully) a safe harbor.
