she may have just been focused on qualifying and less concerned with time. look at all her other race times this year. and she did the same thing last year when she took 3rd at NXR in a leisurely 18:14 then busted a 16:22 at Garmin.

Hard disagree. The NXN singlet and shorts are the two most coveted items for any high school runner. This year they handed out generic stock shorts and a singlet anyone could order/customize directly from Nike. Really disappointing.
On top of that, why are they still giving out the victory XC spikes when they know most kids are racing in Dragonfly’s? Other shoes and warmups are cool I guess, but I’m not hanging a pair of sweatpants on my wall. Just seems like the effort by Nike has been really lack luster.

Can NP “save” their year at NXN
At best, they have been non impressive this year.
Leo/Lex/Aaron/Doshi = little or no improvement since 2021
Martinez = injured
Seymour = little improvement only since transfer
Cantu = decent improvement, but he was coming from way back, so he is not even at Doshi’s 2021.
Don’t get me started on #7. He would not be at NXN if Martinez was not injured
What would they need to do to get the same hype that he 2021 team got?
Lex and Leo would need to go sub 14:40
Aaron 3rd in sub 14:50
Doshi and Seymour 190+ SR
Cantu 185+ SR
Shetty 180+ SR
Last year, NP top 7 all went 184+ at Running Lane. Top 4 were 199+
If avg SR of top 5 or top 7 was better than 2021, then it would create a little excitement.

they were literally the best high school team of all time in any sport last year. it’s ok that they aren’t the same team this year. they’re going to win another national title and all you’re thinking is that it’s still a disappointment. this isn’t about you lol, i’m sure they’ll all be happy

The only way to make a team better than last year’s NP team is to recruit the top 5 runners in the nation to your school

Saratoga will win big if their top-5 run at or near their season-best levels. If their 5th girl is around a 138 speed-rating, they will overwhelm the field.
However, they routinely have had one scorer 35 - 50 seconds off in most races, which would open the door for a few teams.

…but isn’t Soph or junior year a little early to start to plateau? The very top HS performance easily becomes a 200th spot at NCAA.
I would be worried if I was Stanford or NAU if the Youngs and Sahlman top out at current level.
For Doshi it’s even worse. Peaking Soph year is very early.
I hope that they were keeping everything for this weekend.
